An American Contract for the 2008 Nominee
The DU and other democratic and progressive outlets and folks should make a small contract of no more than eight points that potential presidential nominees would have to sign and make a pledge.

The Contract with American in 1994 you have to admit got attention and turned the House to Republican. Something like this could work for our side guys. Here are some points:

Begin action against Poverty in American

Provide ways for people who can go to college get to go

Give the Middle Class tax breaks

These are starters.

2. An immediate "manhattan project" for alternative energy/energy Independence
solar
wind
high-efficiency fuel-cells

there are some incredible advancements been made in solar boosting the efficiency rate up to around 60% and high yield, lower cost manuf procedures IIRC, but (how convenient) gov't funding of the research CUT and it's laying fallow.

5. Health care for all Americans...
because we can do better. There no reason for why the wealthiest country in the world cannot provide health care for all. Stop the corporations from making profit from Americans' illnesses.

6. If things go well, we will have an incumbent, not a nominee, to
run in 2008. The Speaker of the House, elevated to President when Democratic majorities in the House and Senate impeach * and Cheney. I am hoping that would be Kerry or Gore after some patriotic congressperson from a state with a Democratic governor resigns so this can happen.
