Who is Spartacus?
Seriously. I really am asking who is our modern day Spartacus who will lead an uprising of the oppressed (all of us- the lower and middle class who have our lifeblood sucked from us daily by the entitled and politically-connected classes)

30. I Was His Rep Last Voting Cycle, But
...from what I hear, (and it is from a good source) Kucinich is an ass. While I do think sometimes you have to be an "ass" to be a good leader, if you are an ass most of the time, you are *no* freaking Spartacus. To be a true Spartacus, you got to love the people more than the job like Paul Wellstone did. IMO. At least this is the kind of person I would follow to the ends of the earth...

Ha ha! Yes, me too
But unless you might actually be Al Gore or John Edwards, or Russ Feingold , I hope this doesn't just turn into 200 "I am Spartacus" first responders - although you definitely get points for being the first among the first!!;-)

5. We're all Spartacus.
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 09:04 PM by I_am_Spartacus
Every time we see someone like Cindy Sheehan or Hugo Chavez speak up for the powerless, it's our job to stand up to and say we're on the side of justice and freedom along with him or her.

6. Me too.
I am Spartacus. It really does come down to a " which side are you on? " dichotomy.
I believe we are already at and past that point.

17. Not for Spartacus personally. But his cause succeeded.
Slavery has been on the losing end of history, and he has been the inspiration for a lot of rebels over the years.

He was also very successful with his rebellion up until the end. He probably could have gone to Gaul according to the original plan. However, they were having such an easy time wiping out Roman legions, a bunch of them headed back south to continue the fight.

18. MLK:Malcom X as Jesus:Spartacus?
Perhaps Jesus provided the more philosophically grounded criticism of slavery and therefore played a more significant role in ending it in the Roman empire (and the world -- afterall, he was MLK's insipriation), but you can't discount the insipiration that Spartacus provided for people fighting tyranny.

22. Though I'm sure I'll take flak for this....Kerry's my bet.
And I believe it will be sooner than 2008. Unfortunately, fictional "Spartacus" types (or Supermen) have a shorter time from crisis to rescue time (due to story arc and audience attention span).

That aside, let us not forget Kerry had the criminal 'fingerprints' on most of the criminals in this Admin. in the BCCI Hearings years ago. Then they foolishly cheated him of 5-7 million votes in '04...where I DO believe they left behind "fingerprints" of some sort. Then they trashed our economy and our environment and most social programs. As Kerry's recent speeches indicate, he's getting hotter and hotter under the collar.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But he has been known to unexpectedly turn that 'boat' around before. This time he may be doing it behind the scenes (for safety reasons) in aiding others release an endless series of weakening scandals re: the Admin.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But JK's my bet for 'Spartacus.'
