Poll question: Will there be an independent FEMA review?
The public wants one. There's a move afoot from Democrats, with some Republican support, to get the House to vote on one. Even the sham hearings today seem to show there's anger (faux, perhaps, but still teevee anger at the least). Idiot son's number remain in the dumper no matter how much JP4 he wastes on Air Force One for photo op trips he makes.

Republicans, particularly in the House, probably see this as a Cat 5 shitstorm headed right for *them* as they go about getting re-elected. With the cabal essentially lame ducked, they know they need to do something. Delay's power seems to be weakened, if not seriously waning, so he may not be able to exercise control when Republican congresscritters have their own asses on the line.

Looking down the road, do you think there will be a independent panel seated to look into FEMA's and the locals' responses to the hurricanes?

1. The Independent Katrina Commission Discharge Petition!

The Independent Katrina Commission Discharge Petition!
Rep. Louise M. Slaughter has announced a Discharge Petition, which if successful, will force the Congress to debate and vote, up or down, the formation of an Independent Katrina Commission. This is a necessary step in our quest to investigate the woefully inadequate preparation and response to the horrible disaster on America’s Gulf Coast.
In order for the Discharge Petition to take effect and force a vote, half of Congress (218 Members) must sign on. That’s a tall order to fill, especially when you consider all that the obstructionist Republican Leadership has done to block our efforts. But even they can’t stop a Discharge Petition. It truly is our silver legislative bullet.
If Louise is to gather the required signatures, she will need our help. Please sign up as a Citizen Co-Signer, and she’ll keep you updated on our success and other ways you can help.

I’m signing up as a Citizen Co-Signer of the Discharge Petition because we need an Independent Katrina Commission modeled after the 9/11 Commission. With the obstructionist Republican Leadership in control, the Discharge Petition may be our only hope of bringing accountability and truth to our nation's capitol.

Thank You!

2. I wonder how much chance this has for success
Partisanism being what it is ......

But then again, its kinda hard to say no to an opportunity for a fair hearing. Harder still to explain one's vote against it.

My fear is that it will pass but that the commission will be all ginned up. Then they can say they supported it and explaining the ginning up becomes the uphill battle for our side.

They clean our clocks every fucking time ............
