IF Kerry won the nomination, would he give Dean a place in his
government? If not, what do people see Dean doing next? (I know it's too early to make such a presumption, but I was just thinking about it and thought I'd ask).

I hope Dean rallies.....

1. I can't imagine Kerry not including Dean
He has demonstrated leadership and a following. The key is for both sides to realize that each side has something worth having. I find that is just as dependent on Dean as it is incumbent upon Kerry.

Something for us ALL to consider.

2. I think Kerry..............
really dislikes Dean, he's too anti-establishment. I doubt Kerry would harbor any thoughts of Dean in his administration. He's his own man and would create discord within the Kerry inner circle.

3. I doubt it
The DNC and the DLC will ignore Dean as a "fringe" element of the party, because granting him any power will only threaten the status quo which they will believe is their mandate when Kerry wins the nomination.

5. Probably not
And I think its sad. I really love Dean as a possible member of a Kerry admin, he's done a lot to help EVERYONE in this race, by re-energizing the base. His grasroots effort reminded the more "traditional" candidates such as Kerry, Gephardt, etc. remember how powerful the volunteer movement is.

Nothing beats people power. Nothing.

6. I don't think Dean would want a part
in Kerry's administration. Actually I don't believe Kerry will have one to make any offer.

7. There's not a chance Kerry would include Dean
Dean is an insurgent, an outsider, a black sheep. He dares to challenge the party establishment. The Democratic party will have no use for Dean at all if he doesn't win the nomination.
Since cabinets are chosen by the candidate who wins after the general election, there is no benefit to Kerry. He won't need to worry about getting Dean supporters on board.

If Dean does not get the nomination, I expect he will go back to Vermont and sink back into obscurity. He may re-enter local politics there at most.

Dean has changed the paradigm. He has set the agenda. We owe Dean everything for where we are now, for the excitment surrounding the race. For the large voter turn outs. We owe Dean for rejuvinating the party, and for this, we owe Dean our vote in our respective state primary.
