Dr. Dean vindicated for "controversial" DeLay remark
Remember the hugh flap last May when Dean had the audacity to state that Tom DeLay should be "serving in jail”?

(Here's a link to one of countless stories on it: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7925421/ )

Well, it appears this is just the latest of a string of Dean's so-called shoot-from-the-hip gaffes that have ultimately been proven to be true.

For instance, remember the outcry (some from fellow Dems) when Howard said the U.S. public was no safer as a result of Saddam being captured? Now the majority of Americans agree, according to polls.

Anybody care to offer up some other examples of a Dean statement originally being called outrageous but later being accepted as true?

Dean stands by Delay jail remark
DNC chair says House majority leader is 'corrupt'

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean says he won't apologize for saying earlier this month that House Majority Leader Tom DeLay "ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence."

-snip-
"Tom DeLay is corrupt. No question about it," Dean said Friday. "This is a guy who shouldn't be in Congress and maybe ought to be serving in jail."

The House ethics committee is investigating whether DeLay violated congressional rules by taking foreign trips paid for by lobbyists. The Texas Republican has not been charged with a crime, but Dean said he would not apologize for saying earlier this month that DeLay "ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence."

He told The Associated Press on Friday, "Maybe I'm prophetic."

How do we represent the vocalization he made after Iowa -- that was edited so badly that it brought him down?

7. Well, you can start with him being damned for his talk about war.
Remember it was Dean and Kicinish who were against the war from the very beginning, and all the other Dem candidates were slamming him for it. NOW most American's agree with him.

I bet this DeLay indictment made Dean happier than even we are!

53. Dean was NOT against the war even in early 2003
He actually said the inspectors should begiven a deadline (rather than an open ended time frame to succeed.) Joe Trippi saw the opening as an anti-war candidate. So, Dean who wasn't a Senator changed his position and was seen as more anti-war than the others (other than Kuchinich). He also was an extremely moderate governor, not a liberal. (In fact every summer when we went to VT, the Burlington paper seemed to be covering some argument or other he was having with a progressive party that exists in VT)

In this country you are innocent till proven quilty. Even now when he has been indicted, the statement is premature. If (heaven forbid)Dean is accused of breaking some law, I would be horrified by RW statements that he should be in jail. The Republicans are quilty of trying to weaken our rights, we do NOT want to follow there example.

In our hearts, we can be happy, but our leaders have to be carefull in what they say.

Unfortunately, there are too many people in this country willing to believe the GOP's lies and mischaracterizations, and they will continue to believe the GOP unless Dems grow a spine and defend themselves.

like I said in my post, neither Dean nor any other Democrat owes the Republicans anny kind of apology or explanation for anything they say.

Of course Dean was right and I'm glad he said it, just like I'm glad he's said every allegedly controversial thing he has said. I'm just saying the Republicans whine about everything. I like it when Dean just does his own thing.

And we can only pray that Delay goes to jail!

Ps: Of course, I absolutely agree with it being a huge mistake to not answer the swiftboaters.

55. I agree that may be likely
but it's as likely that had Kerry have made a strong emotional attack on those attacking him, it would have only made it worse and harder to get his message across (in the 1 -2 minutes allotted). The election was close - if Kerry would have won, the story would be that he didn't allow them to distract him from real issues.

He did put about 120 pages of naval records on the website (which were the complete records of his service, except for 1 page the navy hadn't given him which rated him in the top category and recommended accelerated promotion) and he did get people like a Chicago Tribune editor who was a lt in another boat when he got his silver star to give their accounts. A vast number of charges in the book were disproved. The press, on the Bush accusations condemned Rather for a possibly forged document - even thouh the secretary said the content was as she remembered it and rejected several well sourced charges as well. With Kerry, the book made 100s of charges, people on Kerry's team showed the major ones to be untrue and proved many people were lying and that they were likely coached - and the presses reaction was to ask them to disprove the rest of them.

more than one anti-Dean DUer predicted that if Dean didn't get the nomination, he would split his supporters off into a 3rd party. I can still remember how dumb that sounded then, how it showed the poster didn't have the faintest idea of what Dean was like or what he was about. Dean was never about Dean per se, he has been a solid Democrat from Day One.

42. File contempt of court on Fox news
Fox news's John Gibson says that attorney Earle conspired with the grand jury to get Tom Delay indicted. I can't believe that a mainstream press can say this in USA. Fox has clearly crossed the line between freedom of speech and contempt of court. Also are there any laws in USA for contempt of court?
John Gibson's views are posted in the fox news website.
