("Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." Matthew 10:16.)
Many people apparently do not make a distinction between the merciless violent criminal, and the force needed to stop the crime, and because of that, they actually contribute to the problem by preventing the remedy. It is like telling police not to carry guns, because we don't like violent crime and abuse--from the other side. You are getting your cause and effect confused. If you don't face them as they are, and instead pretend that they are "nice" or "honest" when they are not, then we will be sabotaged, brutally attacked and slandered, every time. You have to face how ugly they are, and submitting and conforming so they won't attack you--as all abuse victims do--never works. They don't attack us because of something we did; they attack because they are pricks, and to achieve an end.
There is here a clash between two perspectives on things, and they can't be reconciled, and they aren't equivalent. We have to win, or modern, civilized democracy is over. They claim that the removal of all law leaves you with "nature," or a "clean slate"--and then all the rich people start bribing elected officials, taking over jobs in the Administration to kill Federal Departments, and cutting taxes until government itself cannot operate. They still claim things are just going along "naturally," unaffected by them. We know that an infrastructure of laws and regulations are needed, or there will only be corruption and crime; there will only be the violent taking advantage. Notice, after a storm when all the traffic lights are temporarily not working, the first thing that happens is a very nervous stress at intersections, as people fear all the traffic going at once, people not stopping or taking cuts and going before others who were there first, etc., etc. The regulation of traffic makes things safe again, and removes this attempt to take advantage of a situation that some people will always do, at the lack of laws.
Republicans are more vicious, cold, and criminal that at any time during my life--notice that when Nixon was violating the Constitution, there were other Republicans calling for Nixon to resign. Now, they are all Nixon. With the indictment of their DeLay, and a legal system that has finally showed itself again recently, we may be coming out of this horrible era, but you will never have justice if you don't have law. Evil doesn't go away becaue everybody becomes some sappy, fantasy-world, unregulated "perfect," it ends because somebody was able to fight it off with laws.
