CREW: Maxine Waters one of the 13 most corrupt congresspeople
http://www.beyonddelay.org/beyond_delay/rep_maxine_waters_d_ca

Now, I'm all for dem unity, but I never knew this about Rep. Waters and I'm really disturbed by this information (it just came out on Sep. 26.)

What's the scoop on CREW? It looks like a fairly legit research-based organization, and 11 of the 13 are GOP.

I'm not trying to start a fracass over who's "on our side" (Rep. Waters has been an integral member of the CBC and one of my favorite members of Congress.) What has Rep. Waters had to say about this? Have any of you heard about these allegations?

1. They have the goods on her.
Cronyism works both ways, unfortunately. It appears that she has steered a lot of money her family's way & they have benefited from her tenure in Congress. I was very disappointed to learn of this too.

CREW is a good outfit, IMO. I have supported their work financially for sometime now.

2. In other words, she's no more guilty than any number of Puke politicians
Cheney and his Halliburton

Shrub and his Brownie et al cronies

God only knows how many pukes vote as corporate sponsors demand.

8. I'm not surprised....term limits negates this sort of behavior.
It's the career politicians that always run amuck and begin to see themselves as American royalty. I do not trust any member of congress or the senate that has literally moved to DC. Let me be gracious and declare more than two terms in the Senate and more than three congressional races, and you're suspect in my book.

11. Well, they have term limits in Oregon, and it's been a disaster
Every year, the state legislature is 1/3 total newbies who don't know how to find their own offices and who come in (especially the Republicanites) ready to re-invent the wheel, because they have no institutional memory.

The problem of corruption that you so aptly describe could be largely prevented with public financing of campaigns and strict prohibitions on receiving ANY outside source of income other than their salaries during their tenure.

12. Term limits make it worse and favor the party with more money
furthermore, their biggest issue with Waters appears to be her daugher making $450,000 over 8 years! That's approximately $50,000 a year for WORKING. It's not as though she got money for nothing.

3. I saw this yesterday and was really shocked! She's always been
someone I've admired. I thought her stance against the ouster of Aristede--most recently--was incredibly courageous and righteous!

5. Bust them all on both sides of the aisle.......
I'm tired of all the graft and BS that goes on in both parties. Of course tough, new finance campaign laws would put an end to most of this.

6. Just because we agree with her politically doesn't mean she's clean.
We should go after our own problems as well, but the Republicans have a lot more corruption by far.

7. This is the first time I've heard of this
I can't stand this crap. We're long overdue for a good House cleaning. I want every politician on this list out of Congress.

9. Funny that the top dogs aren't listed. GWB and Cheney. Worst ever.
I suppose because they aren't technically congress it doesn't count, but I disagree. They are part of it and the corruption starts there. Rove even belongs on that list.
