A call from the DNC I just received asked for money
The woman asked for $110. I said I can't make a contribution at this time.

Then she launched into the "fear" tactic.

"But Bush is in control of the budget. We need this money to win elections."

I said again I can't make a contribution at this time but... (I was going to mention my volunteering for campaign efforts currently)

She interrupted me and said "Do you like what Bush is doing for our country?"

"Your kidding?" I replied.

"You won't even consider a $25 donation"

"You don't understand," I replied. "I can't make a contribution at this time but..."

Again interrupting, she abruptly and callously said, "Have a good day sir...just have a good day."

Then she hung up.

Folks, this ain't the way to raise support.

4. No kidding. Call the DNC.
If the call was legit, they have to know she went over the line. If it wasn't, they need to know that, too.

5. That's what I was thinking too... It was probably the RNC !!!!
I never receive calls from the DNC asking for donations.

The internet, by snail mail, or at various functions---sure. But not by the telephone!

You could've had the "Free DeLay Foundation" on the line posing as the DNC....... :wow: :wow: :wow:

9. I still get calls from the DNC
And I told them that I have no intention of giving them money. Instead, I'll give to individual candidates of my own choosing.

I vowed after the last election that I will ONLY support progressive candidates from now on.

10. I agree. I joined DFA locally in order to make Dems dance to our tune.
I don't have a ton of money, but I have alot of energy and friends....and we're organized.

6. The DNC is currently using professional fundraisers.
I received a call a few nights ago and I could tell immediately that the person calling was a paid telemarketer calling from a script.
When he confirmed it, I told him that I would not be able to make a donation at that time. However, he was very polite, thanked me and wished me goodnight.

I would think that they (the DNC) would understand the dangers of using a professional telemarketing company. The people who make the calls earn minimum wage and will do whatever it takes to get a sale as they earn commission for results produced. I know because I once had a second job in the evenings trying set appointments for a window company to sell their product. I hated that job but made good money if the company sold product because of my appointment.

11. I get the feeling the Friends of John Kerry are too
Ya ever get the feeling they're getting paid by commission.

Anyway, I'm polite but I say no when I don't have it. And then hang up.

Also, I don't bitch at them about what the DNC or John Kerry isn't doing. Because they're just some Joe Shmoe with a lousy telemarketer job. It ain't their fault.

7. I always tell them that I do not contribute over the phone.......
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 03:45 PM by ClintonTyree
if they want to send me something in the mail, fine, I'll consider it. But there's no way in hell I'm giving anyone my credit card number over the phone. There's quite a few "Police Benevolent Societies" that solicit over the phone too, and some of them get quite pushy as well. I tell them to send me something in the mail, but they never seem to do that! I wonder why?
Beware of telephone solicitations, no matter who they claim to be.
