11. I LOVE
Dean's courage and unwavering common sense talk and will stay behind him all the way for that. His voice must be supported enough to continue to get that message of courage out, even if he might not get the nomination.

6. After Hearing His Town Hall Appearance Last Night
I fell in love with him all over again. This man has the Clinton quality.

I really think he is the only candidate with the independence, spirit, curiosity, analytical skills, and leadership to make a great president.

Frankly, I don't want someone who's going to take a standard liberal position on every issue. I want someone who can think things through and get the legislation that's best for the country. Dean has shown me he knows how to do that.

34. I'm damned grateful to Howard Dean. If not for him, the bogus war
would not have received this attention.
And now with Kay saying there were NO WMDs;
the anti war contingent: Dean, Clark, Kucinich, Sharpton were right.
Vindicated.

Gore Vidal said on Thursday we should all be grateful to Dean;
I am!

41. I do
And if my vote was the one that would determine our nominee, and I had to choose between Kucinich and Dean, I would choose Dean. I'm voting for Kucinich because my vote won't determine who the nominee is. I really think Kucinich could beat Bush if given the chance, but it's too risky right now. I want Kucinich to be the nominee, but sometimes you can't get what you want. We badly need to gain the Presidency this year. Hopefully, Kucinich will have his time. Dean is liberal enough, but it is his fresh attitude that really appeals to me.

Like Molly Ivans says, "He's got Elvis!"

I love that he's human and audacious at times, not stiff and dull. He takes chances, talks bluntly, and tells it like it is. He made me believe I could make a difference, and in return, I proved he was right by going out and working my ass off for him!

It's a reciprocal relationship! he loves us too!!!

82. I love what he has brought to the table.
It is like discovering that you can feel those long dormant feelings once again.

83. I do
He spoke for me at a time when leaders in my party were silent, and for that I will always be grateful.

84. I just got back from NH....
...AND I "HEART" DEAN!!

I posted a while back about how I was still undecided, and a Kerry supporting friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to NH with her. I didn't know who I'd volunteer for and even thought about volunteering for all the candidates, but mostly I just wanted to go see it all up close. I know that what follows might upset some people, but I want to give my personal views on this, my impressions on what I saw during the last four days in Manchester and how I came over to the Dean flock. Here we go:

We landed in Manchester Saturday, and I spent the day with the Kerry people making phone calls and distributing literature.

On Sunday I went to a Kerry rally (saw Brokaw, Franken, and Matthews, who is one ugly bastard in real life) and he was OK. He introduced Kennedy with a line about the "democratic wing of the democratic party," which I thought was one of Dean's lines. Overall Kerry was OK, but I wasn't that impressed with him. He just struck me as cheesy and schmoozy. Oh, and I saw a car with a DU bumber sticker leaving the rally. :)

I tried to go to a Clark rally but it was too crowded and I got turned away. I did go to their HQs later that day and spent a few hours making phone calls.

I was going to go back and help them on Monday but I heard there was a Dean town meeting and I wanted to see him. There were these really crazy LaRouche disruptors there, too - it was funny. Anyway, when I walked out I slapped on a Dean button and stood with his supporters in the cold. It wasn't even that he moved me or stirred some deep passion - I think after the Iowa thing he's trying extra hard to be calm - it was just that he MADE SENSE. And he was really at ease with the audience, really connecting and interacting well, something I didn't really get from Kerry. It was great.

There was a short Clark rally that afternoon. I only caught the first part of it, though, because by the time he showed up my toes were frozen and I needed to go inside. When I came back out from warming up (at Kerry HQs, no less) Clark was walking right in front of me, shaking hands and all that. I went to take his picture but wouldn't you know it, my camera jammed.

Later that day I went to see Edwards and to be honest I didn't like him. He struck me a bit too much like a TV evangelist. I was sitting next to a friend of his, though, who told me that Edwards seemed distracted and tired. He said he usually connects with the audience much more. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there, but again, he seemed to steal from Dean's message on race a bit, saying he was willing to talk about race in front of white audiences and blah, blah, blah. He did have the best intro of all the meetings I went to, though.

My impression of Kerry and Edwards as Dean-wannabes was actually confirmed by a FOX reporter. I met him in a local coffee shop, and he commented that all the candidates were sounding like Dean now. I then pissed him off by making fun of him for working for FOX. He got really defensive and angry, which I thought was funny. I wanted to ask him what he thought of that PIPA study but figured it'd be best to let it go.

Oh, and that guy from MSNB who does all the focus groups was sitting behind me at the Dean rally. I overheard him talking to someone and he said that his research showed that people really like Dean's message but were a bit scared of voting for him because Kerry seemed like a safer bet to beat Bush. He - the MSNBC guy - also curses a lot when he talks.

Anyway, I spent all day yesterday freezing my ass off in Manchester. It actually hurts to walk on my right foot - I'm worried my toes got pre-frostbite or something. I was standing out at the polls with Dean people holding signs and the rest. Then last night I was at the Kerry victory party - my friend really wanted to go there, obviously - and I called my mom around midnight all drunk and teary over the loss. At first I wasn't too bummed. I *had* been an undecided up until three days ago, after all, and just hate Bush more than anything, so whatever, but the attitude of the Kerry people just kind of pissed me off more and more as the night went on. There were a lot of people taking shots at Dean, which struck me as incredibly unfair given that Kerry seems to have gotten so much of his current, winning approach from the Dean campaign. At one point I was watching Dean's speech on TV and this woman behind me made a snarky comment about Dean's wife not being with him, and I snapped at her that she has a job and isn't a stage prop. By then I was drunk and angry enough that I wanted to slap on my Dean button and just walk around the victory party pissing people off, but I figured there'd be no point. I did slyly hold my button up for a guy who took my picture, though. :)

One of the things that struck me about Dean's meeting was his point about leaders doing what's right rather than what's popular, and he used the civil unions thing as an example in his record of just that sort of leadership. This is an important issue for me not just because I support equal rights for all but because my sister's gay and I kinda don't like seeing her oppressed. This morning I read that Kerry opposes a constitutional ammendment on the matter but doesn't support gay marriage, either. Now, I'm perfectly willing to believe that Kerry personally supports gay marriage, but I see this as an example of him trying to walk that middle line between what's right and what's popular. It's a weakness of democrats in general that has been my major complaint about the party for years now - that poll driven sleaziness - and learning that that was Kerry's position just confirmed for me, as if I needed it, that Dean is my man. Besides, I'm worried that once the primaries are done Kerry will go back to being a weak democrat and he'll get Gored. I actually think Dean's personality will play better against Bush's down-on-the-ranch folksy thing than Kerry's does. I know Kerry's showing well in the polls against Bush now, and that's good, but I'm not as convinced as others that Kerry is the better choice on the beating Bush issue. I just can't imagine how anyone who actually sees Dean and LISTENS TO HIM wouldn't support him over Bush, but I CAN see how Kerry would be a tough choice.

If Kerry gets the nomination I'll gladly vote for him. I hate Bush and that's that. BUT, if Dean gets the nomination I'd actually be excited to support HIM rather than just feed off my anti-Bush sentiments. Hope not fear - this is the first time in my life a campaign slogan has actually meant something to me.

85. Love him I guess.
Never thought of it those terms, but I guess I can say that. My feelings for Dean come from the heart. He represents me perfectly as a candidate.

88. Not only do I truly LOVE Dean and all he stands for ...
He's the ONLY candidate I have truly loved since Bobby Kennedy. And not only I have always been a solid Dem, I'm a Democratic Ward Chair in a suburb that borders Chicago.

Dean is the ONLY Democrat who is truly electable this year, imho. He combines sheer guts with an incredible record of proven executive leadership, incredible courage, real integrity, and astounding judgement. He's energized a whole new segment of the population (new and non-voters, including but not by any means limited to kids) And he's the only one who is ready, willing, and able to take it to Bush/Rove on every single issue and make it stick. He's led. The rest have focus-grouped his message and followed. That's not the integrity, judgement courage and leadership we need to beat the right wing machine. That's politics as usual ... the same approach that lost us the house, the senate, the white house and our integrity in the past several years.

You bet your ass I LOVE HOWARD DEAN! :loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya:
