It's only comedy.
Cigar, blue dress...I quit watching at that. Only comedy...MF. or as I have been told it's a f**king comedy show.
Must be tired and sensitive...blue dress, cigar, not funny.

Hubby turned to the news. He was trying to explain the TRMPAC using the cigar and blue dress.
But it's only comedy.

5. That is a VERY lazy joke. |
|
I've heard it from people who don't want to work at thinking up something original and clever.
And no, after seeing more than 100,000 people killed by Bush*, it isn't funny anymore.

6. And DeLay's chokehold on our Democracy is much more serious. |
|
It should not have been treated so lightly. You are right.

7. I wasn't involved in it tonight... |

but I think we can cut Jon and TDS a wee bit of slack.
I'm sure his point was at the rightwingers who were outraged over Monicagate trying to exaggerate what was a stupid blunder on Clinton's part into the kaliedeoscopic corruption that seems to be unravelling now.
It happened, we own it. The more we talk about it the less serious it becomes. And it's not serious...not enough to bring the government to a halt to impeach a marital indiscretion.
Jon was saying "hey, get interested in this" to the people who wouldn't otherwise.
Seriously...watch Stewart wax orgasmic over saying "DeLay" and "indictment" in the same sentence. I'm sure he is smart enough to see what of the middling humor fell flat and he'll fine tune next time.

8. I thought it was pretty funny... |
|
The punch line wasn't great, but he did sum it up at the end:
"We wanted to put it in terms people would really be interested in."
Can anyone honestly say the vast majority of Americans would follow a money laundering scheme with the same interest as a sex scandal? That was his point. Just because it isn't a stained blue dress doesn't mean you shouldn't pay attention...

10. I have a pretty good sense of humor. |
|
I caught what he was doing when I saw the blue dress. However, the point is that many did not catch it....and my first thought was that it would over the heads of any who ever went after Clinton.
I guess I sort of push buttons when I criticize him because so many have pushed my buttons for criticizing.
It would have gone over the heads of those who needed to understand. It bothered me at this time.
I am not much for the kind of humor he displays toward some of our Democrats. I think he has insulted Kerry overly much too many times.
I guess I just don't see anything wrong with not thinking that kind of humor is not funny on some days. I remember the first time I thought he had showed a cruel streak at a time when Dems were vulnerable.....several posted to me...one said "it's just a f***ing comedy show!" in all caps.

I think that people should be able to speak up and express their opinions on comedy.
