Hello,

I have followed this issue for at least a couple years, sat in on public meetings held by MN SOS Mary Kiffmeyer when I lived in MN (and have traded some emails since then), traveled to Washington to attend an EAC meeting in the fall of 2003 (I think, maybe it was '04), and lobbied my representative and my family and friends to support HR 2239 and now its successor HR 550.

Please be on notice that you shall be derelict in your duty as a patriot and guardian of our democracy should you recommend passage of HR 550 without modification.

I want Section 6.8 to require a voter-verified paper ballot for ALL voters and voting systems. It should be mandatory.

1. Hey, I'm calling my SOS tomorrow about printers with our Diebold

I live in MS and our democratic SOS got us Diebold machines, they are suppose to have printers but I'm not sure if they have been bought yet unlike the machines themsleves.

I also have a few hundred signatures that I have been meaning to mail to verified voting. Once completely full, I'll be sending them.

I already e-mailed votingsystemguidelines and I was just wondering if you knew anything about the status of the Diebold machines in MS.

2. Thanks for your good intentions, gristy, but you're mixing EAC with HR 550

There's no connection whatsoever. The EAC has no role or influence in legislation. They will only accept comments on their proposed technical guidelines. By conflating the two elements, you're risking having your comment tossed out, which would be a shame.
