How does Edwards win the nomination?
South Carolina is to Edwards what Iowa was to Gephardt. If he wins, he has a pulse. If he doesn't win, he's dead and drops out.

Now if Edwards wins South Carolina, he could become the anti-kerry and win states such as Virgina and Tennessee.

1. The Edwards scenario
Clark's support begins to collapse, allowing Edwards to win in South Carolina, Missouri and Oklahoma. The press spins this as a big win for Edwards. Kerry starts to look vulnerable. Clark and Dean drop out. Edwards beats Kerry in Michigan. Then it's off to the races.

2. that's the plan, Edwards is running strong in SC
but I don't expect anybody to concede it to him unless he really pulls away.

he's also strong in oklahoma and missouri.

3. Other scenario: be the only person other than Kerry left.
And then anything can happen.

4. Edwards vs Kerry in S.C.
Kerry has the big guns out in S.C. Bob Graham and the Vets. S.C. also has major military bases. Clark--may have lost by pulling the "I'm a General" to Kerry. Dean seems to be recovering from the 'scream thing' that was inflated by the media. All said and done, S.C. should belong to Edwards. Kerry has a long record in the Senate for Bush to Bash. The media is already trying to push the Kerry--Edwards ticket. I resent that so much. I'm an Edwards girl. Also ABB too. But, the South is not going to like Kerry. He has a NAFTA problem. Bush is more afraid of Edwards. Kerry is too establishment for me. Just more of the same, different person.

5. Forget about winning the nomination.....
For now. I hate to use a sports analogy, but he has to take it one game at a time and survive.

But in broad terms, he would get a big boost from winning SC and one other state next week. I live in Oklahoma and I think he can win here. He's running close behind Clark. I have recently changed my vote from Clark to Edwards. Edwards is running a lot of ads here which makes me think his people believe its in play.

Third, a good strong showing in Missouri to go along with 2 wins would be huge fore him.

6. One game at a time...
...like the Patriots. Although I think Johnny is rooting for the Panthers.
