They had a panel show with Peter Mansbridge debating the year in news on the CBC last night. The panelists consisted of a Rex Murphy, CBC commentator, a political strategist, a journalist from The Globe and Mail, and a writer from Macleans, Canada's equivalent of Time Magazine. The discussion, of course, covered mainly Canadian affairs, with predictions on the coming year, and so on (they favour Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec, and the New Democratic Party to make news in 2004). When it came to the question 'What big surprise story do you expect in 2004 (I'm paraphrasing), the answers were as follows - Rex Murphy - Osama Bin Laden Globe and Mail, Strategist - Canadian Election
The guy from Macleans grinned a little, and then said 'President Howard Dean'. That's a pretty major assertion from Canada's most respected News Magazine.
