Poll question: John Kerry Is Now The Prohibitive Front Runner
What % would you assign to Kerry's chances of winning the Democratic nomination?

1. Kerry doesn't quite have a lock on the nomination yet.
He has to get past super Tuesday. My husband has been out of work for 18 months, and I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel to send Howard a few bucks.

I would love to see a real race in the fall, not Bush vs. Bush Lite.

3. Kerry's Not Bush Lite....
He's pro-choice, for civil unions, against DOMA, for the Kyoto Treaty, against across the board tax cuts...

All diametrically opposed from Bush...

He's got Ted Kennedy's endorsement...

He's not Bush Lite....

5. He is Bush Lite from the perspective
of his voting record for the past 3 YEARS. The GOP stratgy will be to call him liberal on all of the votes you noted in your post, and then on top of calling him liberal, the GOP will POINT OUT KERRY's voting record of the past 3 years when KERRY VOTED WITH BUSH on the IWR, No Child Left Behind, Patroit Act, etc.

The GOP will then characterize the race as follows: Let Bush finish the Job, give him 4 more years, after all check out the voting record and how Kerry supported ***. (I can't even type his name anymore)

Mr. and Mrs. "oH is it time to vote for president?" will quickly take a look at Kerry and the past 3 years, and become scared because they trust *** to keep them safe.

End of sad story.

14. And that's exactly why none of them should be elected President
How is Kerry going to debate Junior when he voted for all of Junior's crap?

How is Kerry better than Junior when he's connected to the very same criminals that Junior is? (S&B/PNAC)

We can do better than Bush. We can do better than Kerry.

7. The Patriot Act Passed The Senate 98-1
You have to look at that vote in context...

The Patriot Act is seriously flawed legislation but it was passed in the emotionally charged days following 9-11...

Only one senator opposed it....Russ Feingold.

The Iraq War Resolution was a bad vote... If I was a senator I would have opposed it but you can make the argument as Wes Clark did that it was needed to give Bush leverage to make Saddam comply with U N relsoutions...

Bottom line it was a bad vote...

As to my support for Kerry I will support any Dem who I think can beat Bush... I think Kerry's chances are slightly less than Edwards or Clark but infinitely greater than Dean's ....

8. I agree with you 100%!!!
But you and I don't count, nor does the rest of DU.

Perhaps I didn't make my point. Kerry's voting record, not the reasoning behind it, will be used by the GOP to reel in the indpenedents, the GOP Women vote, and undecideds.

THE GOP MESSAGE IN THE FALL WILL BE THAT THERE IS NOT THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 CANDIDATES. SO WHAT THE HECK, JUST GIVE *** ANOTHER 4 MORE YEARS.

Do you think that won't happen? My God, look at what the *** machine did to Ann Richards in Texas, and how about that lousy, cancer loving, woman hating John McCain in SC.....

For all reasons sake, please take a look at the number of people who bother to vote, and you will see the result.

I will support with all my heart whoever the nominee is. By my dear DU'ers, we are in the major minority.

10. I have Been Thinking About The Debates
and how Kerry's IWR vote will play out....

John Kerry "I supported the war because you , Mr. Bush, said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction that they were able to launch upon forty five minutes notice"... We now know that was not the case and we were misled...

What is Bush going to say....

"I lied and you were stupid to believe it."

I don't think Rove has thought this through... And while we're on the subject I loath that fat, effete tub of goo....

13. Less than Edwards or Clark
I disagree, but understand your posistion. Kerry has name recognition; decades of it. Edwards and Clark are new.

12. You mean your sending money to Kucinich?
Bush Lite is ruling class lite. Bush lite is electable, but not born again.
All Dems agree with Bush in some way. Dean used that (stupid) term to describe others, but it is apt on him as well.
I hope your man finds something he enjoys!

ps - Bush lite is a great thing, if it comes out of the south, or can do better than Gore in 2000. Can Kerry or Dean do that? I think that they can.

2. Barring a coup over the next 2 weeks. It's better than 75%.
But I do think he is beatable. If one candidate wins SC, TN, VA, and 2 more, they have a shot.

4. I Like Kerry, Edwards, and Clark Equally
but voting is a binary choice.....

I love John Edwards' optimism

I love Wes Clark's devotion to country

and

I respect John Kerry's determinism and persistence...

9. it's not over by a long shot
i congratulate kerry on his standing in the nh primary but did we really expect any other outcome? i somehow would find it very difficult to support kerry, my second choice after dean would have to be edwards, but after all is said and done, if kerry pulls this off i will support him all the way to the whitehouse

17. He's definitely at the front of the pack...
But, only 1% of the delegates have been chosen. That is a minute number. Almost non-significant. However, it is worth much more than it appears because it gives Kerry the momentum and name recognition to be competitive in almost every state. He's the favorite at this time.
