More NH Info than you could possibly want

Here it is a breakdown of who won and where. I found it interesting that the Dean areas and the Kerry areas don't seem to cross over much. It almost breaks out by region, I don't know if this means anything or is just an anomaly. I guess we'll know more when all the data is in.

Looks like the western part went for Dean, seems logical they would have more exposure to Dean as Gov.

Eastern half would have more exposure to Kerry

I could see by the details that two areas that I was calling remotely from Texas leaned toward Clark versus Edwards, and that Clark enjoyed moderate support. I can only hope that my phone-style was helpful in this. Very encouraging.

8. SERIOUSLY: there is a strong correlation between optical and

Kerry votes. Look at the general distribution. Also, look at Berlin up north: Dean was smoked 394.00 1149.00, while he did OK in nearby towns using paper.
Need to look into this more... Do some correlations.

PS. The main places where Dean won that had optical scanners are:
Hanover, Lebanon and Canaan.

OK, I've crunched a few numbers, just to see... I created a vector of towns with a 1 for towns that have optical scan machines and a 0 for standard paper ballots. I created another vector with a 1 if Kerry's numbers were higher than Dean's numbers (not even taking into account the magnitude of win) and 0 otherwise.


There are 237 data points. The correlation is about 0.36, highly significant (p<.0001). This means, that towns with optical scan machines had a much higher chance to go Kerry than Dean. It may be a coincidence or there may be other factors that correlate with voting method distribution.

What do you guys think ?
