Lieberman In Fifth; Vows To Press Ahead

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- While the results were coming in to Sen. Joe Lieberman's primary party Tuesday night, a song by Tom Petty was pumped through the crowd.

With its lyrics, "Won't be turned around. And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down," it was not exactly a victory song.

Then again, the fifth-place finish for the the 61-year-old Connecticut senator was not exactly a victory. Moreover, it spoke to how far he has traveled in his quest for the White House. He began this presidential bid as the most recent vice presidential Democratic nominee and the candidate in this race with the best name recognition.

On Tuesday, he stood before a smallish but devoted crowd, and gave a singular interpretation of the results. "We are in a three-way split decision for third place," he began his 10-minute speech, punching the air for emphasis.

Okay, so not a lot of people like him here.

Therefore, I will say "one" nice thing about him.

Even though I don't agree with a lot of his positions, he has never backed down from the decisions he made or positions he took.

That takes integrity and guts

4. He recieved more votes than Kucinich and Sharpton COMBINED in NH

It appears that he has more support in the party they both of those guys.

12. Kucinich and Sharpton will not drop out anytime soon

They aren't in this for the propose of winning the nomination. Thier poor showings in the primary is exactly what they have expected, so all is going along to plan.

Please Joe, come on home, we here in Connecticut still love you. It’s all over, please, please, just stop the madness, and return to us in the land of wooden nutmegs. You can even be the next Governor if you want too, just come home, all is forgiven. Come back little Bubala, to the land of steady habits, and who knows, maybe you can even be US Attorney General, when John Kerry, John Edwards, or Howard Dean wins the Presidency.

8. You're one of the few

As another life long Constitution State Democrat, I have to say you're one of the few who love Joe.

I've been a hard worker for the local Democratic organization, but I've always felt Joe was a DINO, and have never voted for him. The first time I voted for Lowell Weicker, and the second and third, didn't vote for Senator.

He's much too conservative for my taste and for most of my fellow Democrats. When his name was mentioned at an anti-war rally last year, he received a round of boos.

I agree, though, that he might make a good US Attorney General. He was the Connecticut AG, and did a good job. Maybe then, Dick Blumenthal could be Senator.

The voters there have elected him twice as Attoerney General and three times as United States Senator.

He also can continue to get off shots at the rest of the candidates and corporate media can continue the pretense he represents anyone other than them. Have you noticed how much camera time he got as opposed to the others in the back?
