Clark has the winning message for the Democratic Party in the South

When he talks about his faith and family values, he comes across as very sincere. When he talks about his love for the flag, he connects with a lot of Democrats, not just Southerners. We may not agree with any of that, but that's the way people feel about it.

When he says that the Democratic Party is the party of family values, that is a powerful message that challenges the Repubs on an issue they have monopolized since the days of Reagan. He says that people in the South can quote the scripture and they know that a lot people do not practice what they preach. He says that those that have been blessed with much should help those at the bottom that need help. That is what the Good Book says. And the Democratic Party practices what they preach. He says the Repubs act as if they have a direct connection to God. He draws a sharp contrast between the Parties on social issues and needs. This is a message that is good for our Party.

Also, he mentions that you cannot have family values if you do not have a job to support your family. You cannot have family values if you do not educate your children to have a better life than you have had. He even says that the environment is a "family value" issue. We have a duty to pass on to our children clean air, clean water, and a clean environment. This is a message that will sell in the South. because it is a truth that few Democrats have been willing to say.

Are panicking about the possibility of a Clark presidency.

Under Bush, tons of people have lost their jobs and have exceeded their unemployment and have to choose between getting car repairs or putting food on their families.

Under Clark, millionaires might have to tighten the belt and go for the 120-foot yacht instead of the 135-foot yacht.

This bothers millionaires, who have a lot more influence than those in poverty do. Notice that the extreme uptick in media attacks on Clark began after he announced his tax plan.

I think Clark is a formidable national candidate. He had a horrible week and it came at a bad time. If given a chance, I think Clark will do well. But Kerry already is being portrayed as the nominee and there may not be enough time and money for Clark to break through.

9. Edwards' over the top victory speech (after a tie for third)

was just as out of place as Dean's in IA. But for some reason the media won't attack Edwards for it.

but where is the media pile on of negative press against Edwards. If you viewed the post primary speeches of Kerry and Edwards with out knowing the results, you would have thought Edwards had won.
