Get ready for more 'Dirty Tricks' from the Kerry Campaign
"In 2000, Michael Whooley, now a Kerry adviser, ordered volunteers to clog the highways to keep supporters of Bill Bradley from getting to the polls. "

Fox News

"But two nights ago, Cornell College psychology professor Suzette Astley, a Dean volunteer in Lisbon, Iowa, received a phone call from a Kerry's Cedar Rapids headquarters — in which, she says, a Kerry volunteer had some less than kind things to say about Dean regarding his foreign policy experience, being from a largely white state, and so-called "environmental racism."

Since a documentary filmmaker was staying with Astley, the exchange, which has been confirmed by the Kerry campaign, was caught on videotape.

"Does your candidate know that you're saying these kinds of things, unsubstantiated claims on the phone representing Sen. Kerry?" Astley asked 19-year-old volunteer, Jacob Thomas, on the tape, a copy of which was obtained by ABCNEWS."

5. Love that positive campaign!!!
Will they ever figure out that's why they're losing? It's bash Democrats, bash Bush, repeat. We need a "throwing hands in the air" smilie.

6. Fired because the Kerry campaign frowns on this?
Or fired because he was unfortunate enough to be caught? Methinks it's option number two.

4. But this is old, from January 17th. Why is it important now?
 Unless something new happened in NH?

8. In NH a Kerry staffer pretended to be a Dean supporter and got a list..
of Dean supporters phone numbers, and then robo-called all the 1's on the list, according to some Dean volunteers on the ground.

And Dean supporters were being harassed and called in the middle of the night.

The same thing happened in Iowa.

Kerry is running a sleazy campaign so far.

10. Get over what?
If any (ANY) candidate uses these methods they must be pilloried.

Folks should not spread rumors w/o substantiation--true, but the initial report speaks volumes. These things are not "just politics" they speak to the honor and values of the candidates. Any candidate is accountable.

"Get over it" Wow, where have I heard that before? Sounds quite familiar to me.

9. The only dirty tricks I have seen have been coming from the Dean campaign
Like his claim that he was the anti-war candidate when he was the pro-war candidate (supported Biden-Lugar) and pro-occupation candidate. Dean's literature mostly contained misleading lies that pretended the other candidates stood other than where they did. I guess people got tired of the lies.

12. Oh my --
How are those twists of Dean's reality in any way dirty tricks, except in the mischaracterization performed by a Kerry supporter?

Dean has not participated in the type of nasty stuff that Kerry is doing. The same type of stuff Bush used against McCain last time around. Is that the type of example you think we should set? Following in the footsteps of the current schmuck?

11. "Dirty tricks"?
Just practicin' for November.

Might just be the dirtiest since JFK whomped Nixon under rather questionable circumstances. Ol' Joe Kennedy said you didn't have to steal the whole country, just one or two key counties in a few key states.

Heat, kitchen, and all...
