ABCNews.com: Kucinich has a new press secretary
While certainly not a shake-up, the campaign is changing its media strategy. National press secretary David Swanson, who kept a grueling schedule as the campaign's main spokesperson but who oftentimes had a prickly relationship with the press, has given his two weeks notice.

Replacing him is author and journalist William Rivers Pitt. Pitt, who wrote "War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn't Want You to Know" with former weapons inspector Scott Ritter and who currently edits the website TruthOut.org, was covering Kucinich last week in Iowa. He blended in so well that Kucinich offered him the position, and he will now travel full-time with the candidate. The campaign worries its relationship with the media has been damaged by its previously defensive attitude toward the mainstream press, something they hope Pitt can remedy. As Pitt told ABC News, "There's a new sheriff in town."

For some reason that guy Pitt's name sounds very familiar.

44. That's not even clever
Here's how it works: Kerry *is* S&B, Kerry *does* have PNAC people working for him. So when people point that out, you certainly can say it's not big deal - like the Bush people do - but it is *true*.

Since WillPitt is *not* S&B, and he's *not* PNAC, the attempt at humor just makes no sense. Maybe next time?

24. Staffers switch campaigns all the time
Chris Lehane signed on with Clark after Kerry dumped him, for instance.

Will, by contrast, was never even part of the Kerry campaign, just a supporter.

13. He has spoke very highly of Kerry in the past, but
I don't think that I have ever read where he said that he supported Kerry or that Kerry was his choice. And I am almost positive I have never seen a Kerry avatar in his postings on DU.

20. FOR THE RECORD, I DID NOT 'SOUR' ON KERRY
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 12:13 AM by WilliamPitt

but of all the candidates, and after much thought, Dennis Kucinich is the only candidate I would walk through fire for. The other candidates are extraordinary men all, and I would be honored to have them as my President. But Dennis is Dennis, and the cause is just.

Clearer?

46. Congratulations to the Press Secretary and the candidate
It's a match made in heaven - or at least in a place where WMD were known not to be in Iraq and a place where the people of the United States deserve more than what they've got now.

Go, Dennis! Spin the tell-it-like-it-is, Mr. Pitt!

I'll be waiting for William Rivers Pitt to be the Press Secretary at the White House. I won't only be waiting. I'll be voting.

It's nice that ABC decided to cover this information. They, like most of the media, don't seem to want to cover Kucinich at all.
