it's not necessarily because we're perverse (we can see Max, there's no arguing that he's a bright kid). It's just that the web is rife with instances of online communities suckered by fabricated characters -- see Kaycee Nicole, for example.

I'm not wary of Natasha because I'm a curmudgeon, I just don't know if she's real.
