Is anyone sharpening up pencils for Write-ins on Nov. 2nd?
Just wondering, I recently purchased a nice set of pencils and they're standing by, ready to be sharpened if things don't change soon, with our nominee. However, remember all pencils have erasers.

1. .
Not now, now that I understand election law in NC. I wrote in Ralph Nader in '00, only to read later that, per NC state election law, you can write in a candidate, THEY DON'T HAVE TO COUNT IT.
So I did, and they didn't. As they say in West Texas -- Fool me once... shame on you ... fool me twice .... We won't get fooled again!

10. What possible difference could it make?
Do you think if North Carolina accepted write-in votes Nader would have won? Do you think he would have received even one electoral vote?

4. NO
Even in TX, a 'safe' red state, nope -- don't think so.

9. Maybe, maybe not
Kerry is certainly at the bottom of my list.

I will definitely explore third party candidates before November 2 regardless of the nominee. It's an absolute must to be informaed about all of the candidates one has to choose from.

11. Make sure the pencils have Bush/Cheney 2004 logo on them
That's because that's who you'd be voting for.

12. Well that's the problem with ABB
it allows this kind of selection of 'anybody'. Write in yourself for all I care.

13. That's not what ABB means.
ABB means supporting whoever the Democratic nominee turns out to be because the only real alternative will be Bush. Failing to support the nominee will be tantamount to supporting Bush, to helping Bush get four more years in the White House.

But I can sympathize with your confusion. It's not as if there have been any threads explaining or supporting ABB on DU for the last month or so.

16. Let's see. Say I did that....
I write in someone (might as well be my own name), instead of helping our nominee beat bush in the most crucial election of my 53 years. What happens then???

Some election staff person glances at the ballot, rolls their eyes, and says, "count one write in". Then the paper is either trashed, or it joins the others in a stack that will NEVER BE SEEN again.

Wow, that does it for me!! I can make a DIFFERENCE!!! :eyes:
