Dean Needs our Donations
Asked the remaining staff to defer salaries.

I gave today. It's your turn since he doesn't have corporate donors or a rich wife he needs all our support

Almost $1 Million

4. Corporations Give Plenty of Money
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 06:28 PM by ribofunk
They just do it indirectly. Top executives and shareholders make personal contributions, and many companies twist their employees' arms.

And if Kerry's wife wants to use part of her fortune, they're married. There are plenty of ways around that $2,000 limit.

the Heinz family (ie Teresa and her sons) are not involved AT ALL in the company. The company is not owned by the Heinz family anymore.

9. Yes and No
See, for eaxmple, the mortgage he put on their home. She uses her money to pay it off, then its avaiabel for another mortgage. He can lend his campaign money, after officially borrowing it from her. There are many, many legal ways around those restrictions of the Kerrys choose to do so.

2. This Doesn't Concern You?
The top fundraiser by a mile is asking for deferments. He claims to be a tightfisted fiscal conservative...but somebody's obviously mismanaging the money over there. WTF is going on over at the Dean camp?

20. How's your guy doing money-wise?
What did he spend on Iowa and New Hampshire? How long does the campaign think it can carry on?

Clark spent $1.5M in New Hampshire and has $19M - full disclosure.

I gather since Iowa they must've added close to a million, added up with whatever they got over the past 2 months.

Not sure, but the Edwards crew is very good with money. They know where and when to spend it

22. I think it's a fair question
As long as people put up the same information for their own campaigns. We're all trying to produce a nominee, so financial viability does matter. But I think anybody who supports a different candidate has some nerve asking, unless they are willing to show their own guy's money situation.

Another $100 went to Dean last night. It's not like the money would have been going to someone else. Some of us just get a thrill out of hearing our favorite singer.

35. Yours seems like a perfectly gratuitous remark to me.
I think it would be the height of stupidity to think that social change can be made through charitable contributions while ignoring the need for political change.

39. Excuse Me
"to a campaign that's going nowhere?" Get over yourself. I seriously doubt Dean has managed to raise more money than any other candidate from such small donations from so many people because all of those people think the campaign is going nowhere but like to throw their hard-earned money around because of vanity.

I gave Dean $25 last month and it was my first contribution to a political campaign EVER (although I have donated to organizations including Planned Parenthood, NAACP, NOW, the HRC, and the ACLU in the past). Donating to a candidate was a BIG deal to me and $25.00 is a lot of money for me. If I think $25 is way too mich to pay for a meal or an article of clothing I doubt you can say I'm one to throw the amount around for "vanity." I've donated to Dean because I BELIEVE in his campaign and I believe he is the only candidate who can beat Bush and I believe in voting with my HEART and my HEAD and choosing the best candidate, not the candidate I think others might think is the best.

Your post was rude and I think I'll go give Dean another $25 because I guess I'm soooo vain that I think he is STILL our best hope at replacing Dubya and bring change to this country.

25. it's also known as a cargo cult
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 07:46 PM by foo_bar
in the words of Richard Feynman:
http://www.physics.brocku.ca/etc/cargo_cult_science.html

In the South Seas there is a cargo cult of people. During the war they saw airplanes with lots of good materials, and they want the same thing to happen now. So they've arranged to make things like runways, to put fires along the sides of the runways, to make a wooden hut for a man to sit in, with two wooden pieces on his head to headphones and bars of bamboo sticking out like antennas--he's the controller--and they wait for the airplanes to land. They're doing everything right. The form is perfect. It looks exactly the way it looked before. But it doesn't work. No airplanes land.

did Dean's campaign run out of money? :wow: What happened to all those millions he raised for the past year or so? If Dean's people can't maage their money NOW, they're in deep, deep trouble.

This was supposed to be a smooth running operation, what gives?

I don't know, I'm a Clarkie.

But I do know that Dean supporters gave till it hurt. I would be quite pissed myself. I just don't understand it. He was leading everyone in the money department, now they can't pay their staff?

Well, good luck Dean supporters, you've had a rough month, that's for sure.
