I think it might have been "Big Mistake" for Dean to focus on IOand NH

because he wasted some resources doing that. I don't know if Trippi suggested that or not...but if Dean spent too much in NH and is now needing to replenish..after being the most "Flush with Funds" candidate then it says that "mistakes were made" that so much money went into those two little states.

I remember Jimmy Carter who went on a train across America connecting with voters in railway stations and he brough his wonderful "Peace Corp Mom--Miss Lillian" with him and it was the "Tour Across America--the Whistle Stop Tour."

Dean maybe should have mimicked Carter and not spent so much money in Iowa (Causus...weird voting) and New Hampshire (always a conservative state) and spent more time "ON THE ROAD" like Carter did....bringing his "Message to America."

I think Trippi did all he could and he obviously was "tuned in to the internet" so he gave Dean the BIG PUSH in GRASSROOTS Fundraising he needed. But, he didn't understand that Dean was running as a "Populist" like Carter...and he concentrated too much on the "teeny front loaded states" (put in place by "whore McAuliff"_ and misjudged the NATIONAL appeal that Dean would need to differentiate himself from
JFK-KERRY! (Kerry....the Annointed).

There were mistakes made....but not with "Internet Funding" or Dean's Grassroots......

We are just learning about this stuff......We will overcome in the end, like MLK, Gandi, and others who need to perservere.

2. My Impression Was That

Dean focused LESS on those two states than any other candidate, and in fact built a national organization.

Spending disproportionate time and money in IA and NH is essential to a campaign -- witness the effect of Clark skipping IA. So much momentum is bulit up so quickly that a national organization is wasted without a competitive position after NH. For example, who cares if NY, CA, and FL love Joe? He's done.

Carter was in NH well before the primary, meeting people, building support and laying the ground work for his eventual "surprise" win there. Dean couldn't quite pull it off.

How is a guy nobody ever heard of going to build a national campaign if he doesn't start out in Iowa?

Look how clumsy the Clark campaign has been.

Dean has earned every vote he's got, he just hasn't got enough to win.

But zeroing in on Iowa and New Hampshire early was a no-brainer. He just couldn't hold on to his support, if it was that steady to begin with.
