So said my mother, who is leaning toward either Kerry or Clark (her maiden name is Clark, so I like to tease her about only liking him for his name). We were talking about a program she'd seen earlier where it was claimed that the repukes are the most afraid of Kerry and Clark due to their military background and experience, contrasted with Shrub's.
I said that if Kerry were the nominee, all his campaign would have to do is show a picture of him in his uniform in Vietnam next to the one of Shrub at the same age, chewing gum and looking stupid, and then also show him in that ridiculous flight suit, a slap in the face to every single man and woman in the military.
She then brought up the fact that Kerry, unlike Shrub and Dan Quayle and Dick "I had other priorities during Vietnam" Cheney and Perle and on and on ad nauseaum, could have gotten out of Vietnam, his family was wealthy and influential, but he chose not to. Then my mom wondered who was the poor guy who went in Shrub's place, and those who went in the place of the others, and how many died or were injured because of their selfishness.
If Kerry is the nominee (and I'm undecided right now as far as a candidate is concerned), THAT is one of the main things that must be emphasized, especially when the pukes pull their usual dirty nasty trick of labeling him "un-American, unpatriotic", etc.
Look at how they treated Max Cleland in Georgia, a DISABLED Vietnam vet, whose repig opponent had never spent one fucking day in uniform, smearing him as un-American and unpatriotic and what has he ever done for his country, blahblahblahblahblah. Especially when Rush I've-got-a-boil-on-my-ass-and-can't-serve-in-the-military LIEbaugh starts joining in on the bashing, with his "French-looking" crack against Kerry, and shit like that.
Nothing pisses me off more than this, that people still worship the ground Shrub walks on, believing all the bullshit spun by the media whores and the repukes, putting down Kerry as unpatriotic and un-American, when he was the one who refused his family's money and influence when it came to Vietnam, and Shrub had his family pull every string possible so that he wouldn't get his precious blue-blood hands dirty mingling with the riff-raff, and someone poorer and probably blacker had to go in his place.
