An OPPORTUNITY to buy a limited-edition piece of CAMPAIGN ART
Edited on Tue Dec-23-03 02:07 PM by Mairead
I see Dennis Kucinich as a shorter Abraham Lincoln, elected as a member of the House directly to the Presidency, and becoming with his passionate no-nonsense, visionary belief in the future of mankind, yet another savior of our nation: Washington, Lincoln, FDR, Kucinich!

So, open up your wallet and buy one of my Special Edition Kucinich Posters ($30), we only have 5,000 of each. Help us raise $250,000 by January 1, 2004, and show the world it is time to pay attention to Dennis Kucinich!

As far as the polls go - screw the polls. Dennis Kucinich is today's Seabiscuit - rather short, knobby knees, an oatmeal lover, but a winner with the heart and guts of a champion.

-- George Lois, legendary copywriter and designer who's now doing adverts for DK.

2. I don't know. I'm presuming at least $25, maybe all $30

because the art is being donated and I suspect so are the separations, stock, and presswork. But even if they're being sold to the campaign at cost, it's not that expensive to do a 5K run. It's a 4-color job, or maybe 5 with varnish, but probably 4. So the separations and plates are maybe 2K, makeready and press time say 4 hours including press proofs...it's not expensive.

3. Most of our goods are done at cost.
At least from what I know of the situation now. As you said George Lois is donating his artistic efforts, so no, a run of 5,000 each wouldn't be too pricy. What ticks me off is that they're still sticking me unable to order over the internet because I don't use credit cards. Damn I wish they'd get in with Citadel or something!

5. Well jeez...
you can't be a very good American if you don't have maxed-out credit cards! (Seriously: bummer. Can't you get them to sort it out? You can't be the only one, can you?)

I re-read the blurb on the poster and it is a 5-color job (that'll teach me to read more carefully!). But they're printing on 80lb cover, so that's less than the stock I thought they were using.

Aha! I worked it out: you can get both for 50 (see down at the bottom), and they're trying to raise $250K from 5000 copies, so it's a complete donation -- DK gets every dollar!

6. As somebody who is about to be completely free
of credit card debt (after our 2nd mortgage goes through-- mainly for $20k worth of home repair), I can sympathize. I still cary a debit card mainly for convenience, but my wife and I have sworn that devil plastic off for good!

The posters look VERY COOL. I may have to make my purchase, as well as buy a few more signs for some yards in Iowa.

GO DENNIS!!!

7. I'm thinking $25 for each one sold at $30
He says raise $250,000 by Jan 1.

25 x 5,000(of one set)=$125,000
25 x 5,000(of the other set)=$125,000

add them together to get $250,000

Yes they're actually making more selling them for $30.

The money I guess is going to production cost or the Lois himself...or maybe he just wanted to say a quarter million dollars instead of $300,000(what 10,000 posters is...times $30).

Anyways...if I had any money at all I would be doing more for the campaign...but I don't.
