Ralph Nader rules out Green Party run

Dec. 23, 2003 | WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ralph Nader, the third-party candidate viewed by many Democrats as the spoiler of the 2000 election for taking votes away from Al Gore, has decided not to run on the Green Party ticket next year, a party spokesman said Tuesday.

Nader, who garnered nearly 3 percent of the national vote in the last presidential election, has not ruled out running for president as an independent and plans to make a decision by January.

"I think we're all a little bit disappointed," said Scott McLarty, a Green Party spokesman. "I suspect Mr. Nader would have gotten the nomination."

Several people have already declared their intentions to be the party's nominee, including Green Party general counsel David Cobb. Peter Camejo, the party's candidate in the California recall election, may also declare, McLarty said, adding that a front-runner will likely emerge before the party's convention in Milwaukee in June.

I would not be surprised if Camejo gets the Green nod, but we won't know til later this year.

If he runs as an independent and Camejo runs as a Green, the Democrats will have two minor splinter groups. This makes Karl Rove's job much easier.

4. I doubt that Nader will Survive long with out the Green Party..

The Green Party on the other hand will be Nationalized this year.Last election The domocraes were dealin with a bunch of Splinter groups..This year the Greens have a National Pary with full Party status.

Meaning they are now Americas Thrid Party.THey will run a different campain this year..It will be much more organized.

9. That's my take.

The one thing Nader did for the Greens is to give them exposure at running a campaign at the national level in a way they had never experienced before. They should be better prepared and more organized in '04 than they were in '00.

Go ahead and run independent! You'll have even less legitamcy than being with the Green party. He probably wouldn't be happy unless it was called the Nader Party. It's all about you Ralph.

And btw, Ralph didn't lose the election for Gore. I just think he is a little too full of himself.

11. As indicated in many earlier green part y leaks

they told him to go away. Ralph supporters used to be two-percenters. Then, as many of his 2000 voters realized just how duped they were by the indistinguishable BS, they became one percenters. Now, without the Green activists' organization skills, Naderites can only accurately be refered to as half-percenters.
