even if you're a Kerry supporter, you must have answered the "why not Kerry" question yourself, haven't you? I think that any informed voter votes not on the ABSENCE of "why not my candidate"s, but on the RELATIVE sparsity of them compared to other candidates.

I could answer "why not X" for any X that is a Democratic candidate.

Kerry?

Supported the war resolution while I marched against it. If I wasn't deluded by * and the nature of his regime, why should Kerry have been?

And by the way, I don't think Kerry is a bad candidate overall, and I would definitely get drunk on the November night that he becomes President. To celebrate, not drown sorrows. But "why not" is a question with some obvious answers, for every candidate.

His poll numbers are so low, he must be so lonely. Besides, it wouldn't hurt if this guy who was planning on voting Nader voted for Kerry. It is not as though the outcome would be changed at all.

29. I protested the War and understand Kerry's position

While I did indeed protest the war, or more accurately Bush's preemptive war, I understand Kerry's position to vote for the UN to do its job and continue inspections and have the UN form a multilateral, international force to disarm Saddam as a last resort.

Other than that sticky issue (to some), Kerry is a true progressive liberal with tons of experience and the best set of combinations with foreign policy, national security and being a decorated Viet Nam vet as well.

Learn more about his issues and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I am. As for polls, he's doing well in Iowa and could get some decent momentum in New Hampshire and beyond.
