Anger or tears - I don't know
Edited on Tue Dec-23-03 03:54 PM by DancingBear
I recently commented on a thread started by another poster concerning the Dean x-ray flap. Since I was of draft age, I said that pretty much everyone knew why one brings x-rays to the draft board. I said I understood, then commented about how * would be able to paint Dean as avoiding the draft.

In response, I received the following *verbatim" reply from someone with a Dean avatar:

"It seems as if some Dean haters would rather see Dean's name on that wall in D.C., than on the ballot."

What a horrible thing to say. To anyone. About anyone. As I choke back anger and tears, I ask: Why?

4. Oh man...
I nearly snarfed the water I was drinking.

Sorry to make light of a fairly serious thread, but that was funny.

Ain't worth it. Some people can't be saved. Most Dean supporters are cool enough folks.

7. Well, you bashed Dean for not lying about Vietnam.
One was required by law to bring all required medical information to the military physical. Of course you're going to make people upset when you imply that Dean was unpatriotic, since he didn't break the law to go to Vietnam. We expect this stuff from the Republicans; it riles people up to hear lies and innuendo from Democrats.

Accordingly, the victim act from the Dean-bashers gets zero sympathy from me.

13. I said no such thing

I merely said he did what many of us (including me, if I had received a lower number) would have done. Many people left stuff home in order to pass the physical - I'm not heaping patriotic praise on them. I am merely stating that Dean did what "anyone" who did not want to go to Vietnam would have done. He was proactive in trying to get out of going. That's it.

BTW - my dad was 17 when he enlisted for WWII, my uncle 15. I think it was OK, in hindsight, that they broke the law.

18. So you *are* bashing Dean for not breaking the law.

That's what I gather from your last line.

In the general election, Dean will bring up Bush's AWOLness whether the GOP repeats the Clark attacks about ski slopes or not.

10. That was a low blow
I don't think most people feel that way. Shake it off, DancingBear.

Regarding your comment about Dean getting a pass on the war, I don't think that is going to be much of an issue for Dean if he gets the nomination. As you may know, Bush has a rather questionable record in the military himself. I don't think Rove and company will want that story getting national attention.

15. That individual had probably just read a Clark supporter
make a rude comment about Dean's deceased brother, his wife or one of the other numerous attacks on Dean that are typically quite out of line.

This is how the negativity spreads. It's unfortunate, but it's spreading like the plague and ruining the place.

19. Yes, it must have been someone else's fault. That's got to be it.
We all know that only supporters of the "other candidates" ever engage in negative behavior.

20. This belongs in the lounge. It is personal and does not relate to the...
primaries.

Unless of course it is an attempt at bahing supporters of other candidates while staying technically within the rules.
