Foreign experience?
I've looked all over the place and I can't seem to find any information on any of the primarys foreign experience. It bugs me

I know that anyone could do a better job then bush on this but which primary would you say has the most experience? Experience can be interprecated (sp?) in many ways.

I was just wondering if anyone (Dean, Clark, ect.) have and *significant* experience with the foreign policy because it could really use some work. With the mess that bush is leaving, the us is going to need someone who is 100% dedicated to this to repair relations. Who would be best in this field?

I'm doing a paper right now about this and I'm just looking for opinions.

Has anyone of these been in a foreign country? Which ones? Met any influencial people (ie prime ministers, ect.)?

2. This thread can't be for real, can it?
The only candidate who has no actual experience with foriegn relations is the front runner. Even Sharpton went to jail protesting in Puerto Rico (okay, that's a stretch but he did go to Africa to protest slave trading and other crimes against mankind).

That is why I question the sincerity of this post. It is too perfectly posed to elicit criticism of one Democratic candidate to be anything but some kind of odd troll.

Hey, if you're serious I apologise but all a serious student would have to do to ascertain the answer to that question is go to the candidate's websites and look up their records on their own. All this information is out there.

3. Not to mention,
the current "president" had zero foreign policy experience when he started occupying the White House.

Quite frankly, trying to use a lack of foreign policy experience as a negative is totally dumb. That's not the most important quality for a potential president.

Being bright enough to learn new things may well be the most important.

4. You Couldn't Be More Wrong, IMO
Foreign Policy experience is huge now, because the fact is we're at war, or so the significant majority of Americans believe.

Bush got away with being light on foreign policy, because he was left with a fat and happy nation at peace.

Unfortunately, 2004 will be all about foreign policy, especially since it fits so neatly into the stereotypes and themes that Republicans and the media have pushed for decades.

It's not enough, IMO, to surround yourself with competent advisors when all that ultimately matters is the final say. We look at Bush every day, and see how that's a problem. It's not enough to say, "Bush didn't have foreign policy experience either," because the fact is that he does now, and again, it was a different world pre-9/11.

IMO, we need someone who will inoculate us against the inevitable Republican smear jobs as much as possible. Because the sad fact of the matter is, smear jobs like that WORK, especially when they feed into decades-old stereotypes of the Democratic Party.
