Not 1 cent for children of Iraq war
“The.... coalition is spending billions in Iraq – not a penny has been allocated to the child victims of the war."

Seen this on media this morning and checked it out.....these veterans are trying to help the "victums"..............with all of our money going to Iraq..one would think that these children would have gotten some help.

3. Why should any of my money go to Iraqis?
I mean, what have they done for me? It's their own fault for choosing to live under Saddam Hussein. They should be paying me for their liberation. I need another tax cut.

And, whiny libertarian mode . . . OFF!

Yish. How distasteful.

5. I understand your position
I said some what the same thing.I thought our money was helping the kids......guess not....

as for asking for donations.I'm donated out.....the hurricanes...the earthquakes..helping our own comes first now..

the schools need our help...the poor children need our help to get a meal a day........

with increasing rises in our fuel.heating..electric.phones .home insurance.taxes for school and property.....I just can not give any more..

7. Actually, I was channeling other folks' talking points
I think the United States needs to rotate its military folks out of Iraq, replaced by a true international coalition of forces under the aegis of the UN, and I think the United States needs to pay for about 95% of all of it, with minimal advisory capacity. We've clearly created a mess, and it's time to pay someone else to clean it up, because we don't have the ability or the credibility necessary to do anything positive in Iraq anymore.

I'm not in a position to give very much, but our nation spends over a billion dollars every day on its defense budget. Redirecting a couple of days' worth of our defense budget every week to Iraqi restoration wouldn't hurt our defense readiness in the least, and go a long way toward atoning for our national sin.

6. don't forget Afghanistan either.....
Edited on Sun Nov-20-05 12:19 PM by PDJane
Afghanistan should have been the recipient of medical and humanitarian aid. Instead, the government has no money for reconstruction and the warlords have taken over again, and are fighting the Taliban for power once again.

The infrastructure is devastated, and the child/mother mortality rate is obscene......almost 1/3 die before their fifth birthday.

The US created the mess there, in trying to fight Russia. It is time for amends.

8. The Republican focus
is NEVER about compassion. EVERYTHING is about money. I want somebody to tell me the last time any of those Republican hate mongers have chosen to help people instead of their wallets. Thanks bluedog.
