had a good criticism of Clark -- he answers many questions too stridently and lets his criticism of Bush overshadow his message. They contrasted this with his last answer (church/state), which was positive, authentic and heartfelt.

This has been my problem with all of Clark's debates, and I hope he moves toward his approach on that last question.

The audience response on his last question to his earlier other answers. Was some of it the content? Sure. But his delivery was undeniably much more engaging.

From many comments I've heard from undecided voters, I think the biggest thing Clark has to do is convince the Democratic electorate that he is not Al Haig.

Have to say I agree with his take. Kerry holds or gains on Edwards; Edwards was weaker than he has been in the past, Clark much stronger than in the NH debate. Sharpton keeps his base and maybe adds some. Dean did okay, won't pick up new supporters based on tonight's performance.

22. Ok, now that I've seen the whole thing...my summary

Kerry - did quite well for him. Had as much fire as he's likely to get. He does pontificate but didn't hurt himself. Got in some good strong jabs at Bush. Kerry has incorporated as much of the Dean message as he thinks he can sell. I think that has helped him.

Dean - off a little bit, subdued. I would be too! Still he gets kudos for continuing to tell the truth. If your issues are anti-war, anti-lying-BFEE scumbags, then Dean's still your man. Weak jab at Kerry. Dean's not in it to trash Democrats though. Good shots at Bush-Cheney later on the Tweety show.

Clark - Plus. Solid discussion of issues, home run on the church-state separation, good delivery.

Edwards - No real hits. Thin on substance. Not his best.

Lieberman - Oh, please! No, I think he did fine, good performance, I just disagree with most of his positions.

Kucinich - Man, I gotta love Dennis! Go! Plus. Homerun on NAFTA. Another thing, the Bush plan for Iraq is now identical to the Kucinich plan. UN in, US out before the election. Anybody notice?

Sharpton - Much sharper than the last two debates. I know people are after him for getting help from a Repub. scumbag but Sharpton is hitting on some stuff that needs to be hit, particularly (1) unemployment rate for blacks is double whites, and (2) Reference to Bush* theft of Florida. Keep whackin' 'em.
