I think Gephardt would be a great choice for vp, and as far as the South goes, I think they will come around. They cannot expect to have a southerner on the ticket every single time, and I'm sure many southerners are abb. The best choices for vp are ones that have a good chemistry between them, because people feel an electricity there, and get rev ved up. Clinton-Gore had that energy, and people really felt it, it made a difference when they campaigned.

Damn, no wonder we have trouble winning national elections. Only one of us (Bill Clinton) has gotten it in the past 25 years. Do you WANT TO WIN OR NOT?

It's bad enough the Dem establishment is pushing Kerry, but if they are even CONSIDERING Gephardt they should all have their heads examined.

How many candidates with "L" on their Botox-treated foreheads can we stand in one campaign?

I am basically ABB, but I have a great amount of contempt towards Joe Lieberman and Dick Gephardt, who I feel are traitors to the Democratic Party. At every opportunity they caved in to Bush, prevented any sort of debate, and didn't challenge him on the multitude of opportunities that were presented to them. 2002 was the result. While I will grudgingly vote for Kerry, if he selects either one of these men as VP, I will not vote for him.

12. I Heard a RW Talk Show Host Say This Yesterday

Jay Severin in Boston. He said Gephardt would make the deal that he would support Kerry in MO (endorse) in exchange for the VP slot.

Jay did say that Kerry doesn't need Gephardt in MO and thus was unlikely to agree to such a deal.

It would be a major mistake in my view for Kerry to have Gephardt. How do these two men argue against the Iraq war -- Gephardt stood next to Bush in the rose garden for heavens sake.

I mean, they both supported the war and some other of Bush's stuff together, but Gephardt wouldn't be a good choice.

Edwards would be good. He's young, charismatic, and he could help deliver the South, too. And he's the same with Kerry on many issues.

An important point, folks. Don't start discussing VP possibilities yet. Dean's campaign made this same mistake when they thought they had it sowed up. And before you knew it, somebody else had the lead. Kerry does NOT have the nomination yet.

Gep standing with * in the Rose Garden would make very nice ads for the repukes. I'd prefer someone less aligned with the right. I still think Bob Graham would be a great complement to a ticket with a New Englander on top. I also like Tom Harkin, although his endorsment of Dean will probably not endear him to the Kerry folks.
