Soros expressed his opinion. Reading his remarks about Bush, I believe he will come through in any event.

I don't mind the billionaire plutocrats having opinions. It's their habit of buying elections that I don't like. Soros' allegiances are with the Democratic Party, not any personally-cultivated bagman.

The consensus - if the money has no string attached, is can be used for a specific purpose - but NOT for daily, ongoing expenses. Take Soros money for the commericals, but DO NOT rely on it to pay the rent and pay the staff.

If you make yourself reliant on billionaires, you have been bought, it's as simple as that. Temporary alliances are a fact of life.

George Soros has decided that it is "a matter of life and death" to get rid of Bush in 2004. A lot of us here on DU should agree. Soros has already given 10 million dollars in August to 'America Coming Together' a get-out-the-vote 527 organization, and 2.5 million dollars to MoveOn.org. Soros says he supports Dean, Clark or Kerry equally. He said "I have great admiration for John Kerry and Wesley Clark. I am Keen on Dean." But, the issue is getting rid of Bush. And Soros is not alone in no concluding that Kerry is the strongest candidate for the mission.

So, with 527 orgs able of raise a ton of money to defeat Bush, the real issue is back to WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE to go against the Republicans.

We at DU represent the “thinking” class of the Democratic Party. It is time for tough-minded re-assessment of Kerry strenghts free of sentimental attachments to our preferred candidates.

That's what Soros is giving the Democratic Party to protect his investments- 0.0909090909090909% of his income- the equivalent of $54.55 from someone making $60,000/yr or $27.27 from someone making $30,000.

Wow. That's SOME committment! According to a 2003 article from Business Week, Soros "gave away" $2.4 billion to "charitable causes". Of course most of these were in Russia, Asia and Eastern Europe and would not be considered as "charitable" enterprises/gifts from the people of those countries (well not unless you consider the goals of the NED as charitable).


$54.55 Damn cheap if you ask me and Dems jumping up for joy ready to sell our soul not even asking what he wants in return. Putin has a pretty good idea and has already locked up Soros' oil friends (who just like Soros are part of Carlyle), shut down his Russian "charity/democracy" offices, and put a stop to all the capitalistic plunder of the Russian People's resources.

I have no clue as to why, myself. I have watched elections since 1960, and I think I can spot a winning candidate a mile away. There are two, still running, but apparently neither are going to be nominated. Imagine that.
