Who cares about Botox?
Why is this even being mentioned. I think a huge weight has lifted off JK and it shows. Email Judy Woodruff and tell her to stop peddling stupid Drudge rumours.

Shouldn't matter. I mean, Bush puts on about 3lbs of foundation on his face before the SOTU address and nobody cares.

You can really tell when Republicans fear someone when they start attacking you over trivial things.

8. Im not aware of this issue
however I get from the message Kerry wears makeup or something. Feel good about your guy if thats all they can find. Im sure most of the candidates were wearing it during the debate. No rational person is going to give a hoot about makeup. I have always admired Kerry for his battle with cancer. Maybe chemo made him look more pale. Pretty sick of this attack, if thats the case.

everyone wears makeup during debates
Hell, anyone who goes on tv PERIOD, probably gets at least a touch up on the nose and forehead to keep the spotlights from shining on you.

12. He lied about it...that's not good
I'd like to know how he cut 15 years off his looks?
He's a walking advertismemt for Botox. But you are right...
It shouldn't matter. Please Kerry...tell me how you did it.

3. I don't care about Botox
but a lot of makeup on men really creeps me out. They look like clowns to me.

(I don't like it all that much on women, either, but I'm more used to it.)

4. He is in the public eye-ask Judy or other media whores if they've
had any plastic surgery. It is no big deal.

BTW I think Ted Kennedy had some surgery-he's dropped about 100 lbs but his face looks considerably tighter these days...

7. Those who own/control the media do
None of the Democratic candidates are immune from these idiotic media fixations.

And if something trivial like a scream or Botox stories don't neutralize the candidate, it's going to be really ugly charcter assassination that we see next.

10. Let Drudge focus on botox...
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 04:16 PM by Memekiller
Us Democrats will keep talking about the bungled war, incompetent economics and diversion of resources from the war on terror.

No wonder they want to change the subject.

27. The fact that we're even discussing this...
...means Drudge won. Yet again, he frames the issue the media focuses on. Even if it was invented, all the talk shows are asking, "Is Kerry honest?" Rather than, "Is Bush honest?" Or, "How did we bungle this war so badly?" or "How did the state of the nation fall so far, so fast?"

We'll never talk about those issues because Drudge determines the questions the media asks. Everyone is following his script. And we let him get away with it.

13. The real issue is that Botox is a weapon of mass distruction...
Didn't you know that ? Like that one vial found in Iraq... If Kerry used Botox, it would be very hypocritical of him to denounce botulin labs in Iraq.

17. It goes to character I guess, showing vanity
The Republicans will use it night and day. It certainly isn't a show stopper but it's one cut in a death of a thousand cuts just like what happened to Gore in 2000.

I would say, it's just the beginning of the beginning.

20. When JK announced he was throwing his hat in, the press went nuts
because he had a wrinkled forehead. Could it be he was artificially jacking up his forehead so he would have gravitas? On and on with the stupidity. If he got botox injections to shut them up, I am sorry he felt it necessary, and I agree with the poster that say let them go on and on about botox. It just means they have no valid criticism.

21. Let's Not Let This Election Be About
botox, and Wes Clark's sweaters and John Edwards' mole on his lip and Howard Dean's suits.

Let's let it be about issues that matter to Americans.

Don't let the republicans define the issues - they'd much rather talk about botox. It is a heck of alot easier for them if we do.

24. I only care if he had botox and then lied when asked about it.
That will torpedo him (and us, if it happens after he has been nominated.)

So in that regard it is a huge deal.

Otherwise, I don't give a sh*t if he has a facelift & lipo and collagen for his lips.

I pray that he is telling the truth about it and will curse him to his grave if he is lying and it becomes a big deal.

25. It shouldn't be a media event even if he did botox a couple of wrinkles
But I really do find it painful to look at people when they go to extreme measures to avoid aging gracefully.

I've noticed a major trend in that direction lately with some of the older stars - Goldie Hawn, Larry Hagman, Dolly Parton, Naomi Judd and of course the perennial Cher and Liz... Their faces are so tight that they can hardly move their mouths and their skin looks slick and waxy. It makes me feel physically ill to see it. They must all be using the same bad doctor who should be held accountable when the patient winds up looking like a wax puppet.

34. Teresa mentioned using botox earlier in the year
on herself - sorry no link, but think it was in Vanity Fair - so I think he probably did use it.

But who cares? Not me - and apparently not Debbie Norville on her program last night.

Didn't see where he denied it - don't know if anyone could find out for sure unless the botoxer risked losing Teresa and all her firends as continuing clients.

All in all - just gets more and more potential voters to look at his "presidential" visage.
