15. They all hang out at Skull & Bones mixers after work
pat each other on the back and smoke Cuban cigars.

2. personally, I'm sure they respect eachother
But these two are going to be forever intertwined in the history of Democratic Party politics.

If Kerry goes on to win the nomination, then he has Howard Dean to thank for it, by making him a better candidate.

If Dean gets the nomination, it'll be because he proved to be better than John Kerry. And, IMO, that will mean he has truely earned the nomination.

4. They're P.O.L.I.T.I.C.I.A.N.S.
It's buisness, not personal.

Well, ok, sometimes it does get personal, but they know the score. All is fair... yada, yada.

5. I smile and say hello to people I despise
if I'm in a situation where it's necessary. People do that in politics.

9. It's kind of like when you
go through a bitter contested divorce, and one day you see your and your soon-to-be ex-spouse's lawyers yucking it up in the courthouse cafeteria over coffee and donuts. (And yeah, I've been there, done that.) We the people see one side of an issue, while the players are at quite another place.

While we the people rip each other apart, fierce competitors manage to be civil, even friendly towards each other.

12. Howard says
in the newest Rolling Stone magazine (the political magazine of record), "I personalize things less now than when I was governor, in terms of attacks from other opponents and so forth. A lot of these attacks come across as personal, but they are mostly theater. But when they first started going after me, I couldn't believe it, because I knew a lot of those guys."

14. It's like the WWE in some ways.
The superstars have their public characters, where they hate each other's guts, beat each other up, and talk shit about themselves at every occasion. Backstage, in real life, they know it is just an act for the crowds; they're just trying to earn a living.
