Poll question: Poll: Kerry/Clark or Kerry/Edwards
If you were forced to make this choice, which ticket
would do you think would be better to run against
Bush/Cheney to recapture the White House?

1. I could not be forced to make that choice because it will never happen.

20. I like this one better!
Energy and enthusiasm. I think Clark/Edwards could pump people up and get them excited about the next four years.

3. I'll abstain from this vote. Like Kerry did on 10% of senate votes.
Thanks.

5. Edwards could knock off both Carolinas.
And a pair beats one Arkansas. That would be enough.

22. No he couldn't
He probably wouldn't have even won reelection in North Carolina if he had run. Neither of the Carolinas will be competitive in 2004. Bush will carry them easily. Arkansas may actually be competitive since Bush only got 51.3% of the vote there in 2000 compared to 56.0% in NC and 56.8% in SC.

23. SC has huge job losses
and is one of the state's with the highest number of people who have used up all their unemployment benefits. I think SC may be competitive.

14. Hey, I am just trying to get a feel on what people whould like...
Personally, I still love Wes. It's just that there is
a strong possibility Kerry will be the nominee.

As far as I can tell, it will come down to one of these
two choices unless Kerry picks some random person (which is
often done).

9. Kerry/Clark
the national security credibility that oozes out of this ticket is hard to pass up. Although Edwards might make the better salesman in the South, I think that might be outweighed by the advantage Kerry and Clark would have nationwide on national security, which might bring states in the Southwest as well.

11. I have to agree with you. The republicans have already started to attack
democrats as weak on security issues. They would have a hard time getting that idea across with Clark on the ticket. While I think Edwards would be formidable in the south, I think the national security is a bigger issue.

13. Neither guy is interested in VEEP nor should they be
Kerry can forget the south unless he puts Robert E Lee on the ticket (and I don't think dead people can run) so there is no point in Edwards.

Clark brings nothing to the ticket that Kerry doesn't already have covered (war hero) so there is no point in that.

Kerry needs help in regions (apart from the south) where he might have trouble, mid-west perhaps. Gephardt might help but there are likely better choices.

16. How about money?
The kind that you don't have to loan yourself.

How about grassroots? Clark raised over $10,000,000 in the fourth quarter, with a relatively small average donation. Kerry raised $0.75, a couple of old buttons, and some pocket lint.

How about international experience? Clark is beloved by our allies in Europe. Kerry is known for making the international sign for pot smoking and pretending to be Irish.

26. Kerry will get the party money and our allies in Europe don't vote
Kerry didn't just fall off the turnip truck, he understands the world and its the SecState who gets cozy with the rest of the world, not VP.

VP must be used wisely to secure questionable votes and the general is not capable of delivering any region.

He would be a worse choice than Lieberman was for Gore and thats saying something.

29. Untrue. Kerry helped craft the Kyoto Protocol with other world leaders
and speaks three languages and his wife speaks five and also worked as a UN interpreter.

Kerry also grew up in Berlin.

17. Kerry/Edwards makes more sense
than Kerry/Clark. The VP needs legislative experience more than anything else. Clark/Kerry would be the better ticket, because the VP needs legislative and political weight; while the president needs leadership, foreign policy, national security, and executive weight. This isn't 1992, unfortunately. The country's needs have changed radically. The ticket needs to be balanced to reflect the situation we are in now and can expect to be for years into the future.

24. Kerry supplies the legislative experience,
so that's not so necessary for a VP anymore. Plus, if he wants a Southern Senator with experience in Congress, why not go with Mary Landrieu? She's been in the Senate longer than Edwards. I would say Bob Graham as well, but I think he's pretty bland as a speaker and that wouldn't balance out Kerry.

21. Kerry/Clark
I love John Edwards, but he just isn't ready for the vice presidency, and I doubt he could carry North Carolina against Bush. It would be better to have Edwards serve as AG under President Kerry. But that's just my opinion; Senator Kerry will make the final decision.

I think if Kerry gets the nomination Edwards would be a bigger help, also can't see that the General would take the no. 2 spot.
