What an Extended Race Can Do...
If the nomination isn't settled quicly, it can still leave a scattered spotlight that gets out the Democratic message.

For the eventual nominee, the other players can real pile on and serve the party as a mouthpiece.

Think Good Cop, Bad Cop...

This is not a bad thing people. The media attention keeps the story on 'Get Rid of Bush' instead of 'What's the deal with the nominee?'

You want more primaries... well BRING 'EM ON!

The process is good for the party and good for America.

1. Exacty what I believe
Why give the RNC a clear target for the next 8 months. Make them spend their money and resources switching from one target to another. These compacted primaries are the worse thing for what we are up against. Why didn't anybody in charge think of this?

2. I so agree.
This has been so good for us as a party. All this news, all the talk about how bad Bush* is is bringing things out for the American people who may only now be paying attention. We do not need one nominee who spends all his time defending himself, we need all these guys to keep the pressure on and get the word out.

=Bush AWOL is now a story

=NO WMD is on the table again

=The economy is being reported more 'critically' again

The next Bush numbers will have tanked even more...

7. It has been exciting.
I would like to see more added to your list and if we have only one guy it will seem more partisan and less true. Whoever gets the nom will spend every waking moment of his time defending himself against what the Repubs throw out there. We gotta be able to show people that we have basic principles in this party that we all share but are welcome to differ on the specifics, it gives room for more people to feel comfortable with us. And, as we all agree, the more Bush* bashing press we can get the better.

4. Absolutely. A long campaign brings things like NYT racism to the fore.
There are a lot of things that would be swept under the rug if we succumb to the "Big MO Bum's Rush" and anoint Kerry like we were supposed to anoint Dean.

I want Florida to count and I want a convention. Let the GOP wait to find out who they'll be facing in November. If we anoint Kerry then all the publicity from now until September will be about what Bush DOES and Kerry's complaining about it.

This way the media has to keep running articles and paying for reporters. That's one of the reasons why the NYT people are taking the lead, seeking to cut down the Dem field from outside.

It isn't just eliminating that pesky black guy from the race. There's also some money to be saved. Otherwise why not just ignore him like the rest of the media ignores Clark?

Nope, the NYT needs the cover of "helping the process" to cover the fact that they are calling for the removal of the only black voice left in the campaign.

Screw them. Everybody should hang on as long as is at all possible, if only to cost the media money. Did I already say "Screw them?"

Oh, okay.

6. I think the public should feel that each candidate who drops out
made the decision on his own. It's not up to the NYT or the Democratic party or the Republican party.

8. I agree, too!
Ultimately, I'm ABB. Keeping them guessing is not a bad thing. 6 different messages spotlighting this administration's criminal acts helps get the message to the American people.
