Would WaterGate be legal under Bush's new interpretation of the law? |
|
If WaterGate would have happened after 9/11, could Bush use the same arguments he's using now to justify it? Could he claim there was a national security issue because he feared the Democrats were leaking information from intelligence agencies?

1. He could use the same arguments, |
|
but whether those arguments would have or will save his presidency is another question. I note that the press is slightly less blind to his corruption and incompetence than they were a couple of months ago. Who knows what kind of changes are about to happen.

5. Now that I think of it, Nixon was dumb. He could have claimed that |
|
war was a success because the Vietnamese never attacked us on our shores. 52,000 dead American soldiers kept us safe from the Vietnamese. See, if Nixon had a Karl Rove, that's how he would have spinned it.

8. HA! You fool! What do YOU know? |
|
Don't you realize that the Water Gate offices were on commercial property and that it would not qualify as private? Therefore, tape recordings would be admissable in court.
Plus, you're forgetting that all criminal laws are now suspended under the new national security interest clause. We're living under the NEW Bush regime. You need to rewire your thinking.

7. Probably, yes. At least Nixon and his thugs broke into Democratic |
|
headquarters. It was flagrantly and appallingly illegal and unethical, but at least it made SENSE.
Wiretaps on PETA is part of Bush's legacy to snooping around.
Really super-paranoid behavior, any way you stack it. Senator Hagel is right to call Dubya on this one.

so he gets his medal and hush money.
Funny, a lot of professional @ the CIA and FBI would not cover Nixon's ass during Watergate.
