GOP Faces Presidential Primary Race

While not many people suggest the president's Republican rivals have a chance of winning the party's nomination, an intrepid few continue to fight for recognition.

For instance, Missouri Republican Blake Ashby (search) has said he's challenging Bush because he's mad about increased federal spending. California graphic designer Bill Wyatt (search), also a member of the Grand Old Party, is running on an anti-war platform.

Though the candidates face long odds in defeating the president, getting on the ballot is relatively easy, and has encouraged a dozen Republican presidential hopefuls, including Ashby and Wyatt, to get into the New Hampshire primary race.
