Bush: "So long as I'm the president, we'll stay on the hunt" (for Osama)
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said his 2004 re-election victory over Sen. John Kerry was aided by Osama bin Laden, who issued a taped diatribe against him the Friday before Americans went to the polls, The Examiner newspaper reported on Tuesday. Bush said there were "enormous amounts of discussion" inside his campaign about the 15-minute tape, which he called "an interesting entry by our enemy" into the presidential race.

Bush's comments in the Washington newspaper were excerpts from the new book "Strategery" by Bill Sammon, a long-time White House correspondent. "What does it mean? Is it going to help? Is it going to hurt?" Bush told Sammon of the bin Laden tapes. "Anything that drops in at the end of a campaign that is not already decided creates all kinds of anxieties, because you're not sure of the effect.

"I thought it was going to help," Bush said. "I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn't want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush."

In an ABC News interview before leaving on a visit to India and Pakistan, Bush said he was optimistic that bin Laden would be brought to justice. Bush said he would be discussing with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf efforts to track down the al Qaeda leader. Many experts believe bin Laden is hiding on the Pakistan side of the border with Afghanistan. "So long as I'm the president, we'll stay on the hunt and we'll use resources and power and influence to convince others to join us on the hunt as well," Bush told ABC. "I'm an optimistic person. I believe we will bring him to justice."

6. Hunting, eh?

Yeah, join the hunt with BushCo and get SHOT IN THE FUCKING FACE.

To borrow a line, this man works in idiocy like a master painter works in oils. NOT the best metaphor to be using right now, Pretzel Boy.

Of course we might just want to take him literally. As long as he is President, we will be "on the hunt." We won't catch him, find him, or anything. But we'll be hunting. I know people who do this every Novemeber. They take 20 cases of beer out in the woods and stay on the hunt the entire week. They never catch anything but a buzz, but they're out there, hunting, for something. Who the hell knows what. Maybe more beer.

10. Of course, if we caught him, we'd no longer be on the hunt. Therefore...
we have to avoid catching him.

12. Perhaps we'll be able to find him easier
when he's working for his buds at Dubai Ports in New York or somewhere else. He'll be in this country, if he ain't already.

13. I don't think they have farm raised Osama's
And even in a controlled hunt, this admin would end up shooting the US people, Cheney style, instead of the terrorist bird.

14. yeah...right
Bin-Laden is more useful to the bushies and gopers as a boogie-man running free than he is locked-up in a cell or dead

Edited "secret tapes" can be dragged out at politically crucial moments to ramp up the fear factor.

Whether or not you think Saddam was a significant threat - ask yourself how afraid you are of him now that he's locked-up. Other than a token PR prop to point to as a "success" - he's useless as a boogie-man to shake at the public

if Bin-laden were captured or killed - the bushies would have to create a whole new boogie-man

15. They've got al Zargawi as the other evil doer.
He is the reason that the US Forces must stay in Iraq.

17. "Stay on the hunt" not "Find"
Since it really isn't in the * administration's interests to actually find the Bin Forgotten.

The trial would be far too embarrassing for many people. He'll never be found and tried for the same reason that Saddam Hussein is being tried in an Iraqi court, if it were a US or international court they could both use receipts from the US government in their defense.
