"Civil liberties do not mean much when you are dead,"
Sen. Jim Bunning (news, bio, voting record), R-Ky., told the Senate.

Re: the "Patriot" Act renewal in the Senate.

I disavow that that senile old bastard represents the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

1. Well I have news for Mr. Bunning -
I'd rather be dead than live under a dictatorship. So in the words of his leader Dead-Eye Dick - go fuck you. :patriot:

3. If that were true
Then what have all of our soldiers throughout our history died for?

Freedom is just another word for civil liberties, isn't it?

12. Ditto!
And guess what, Mr. Bunning? All of this snooping and spying hasn't made us one iota safer, hasn't turned up anything, and only serves to oppress the population and increase suspicion and further divide people.

But as your boss is wont to say, "mission accomplished." I expect a little better from my elected representatives, you senile old fool.

8. Neither do clothes but I sure as hell am forced to wear them when I
step outside my home. We can include food, water, hair cuts, baths, but what good is life without these things? The only thing worse than the patriot act is DEATH? WOW..we are setting our standards for decisions made by our 'representatives' lower and lower each and every day!

10. My response to Sen. Bunning via his website >>>>>>>>
Dear Sen. Bunning.

I just read an article covering the vote of amendments to the "Patriot" Act (what a horrible name to call that abomination of legislation). You were quoted as saying, "Civil liberties do not mean much when you are dead."

Well, Sen. Bunning, may I direct you to the words of one devout patriot:

"Give me Liberty or give me Death."

I'll die on my feet rather than live on my knees succumbing to the traitorous likes of Republicans like yourself.

It's people like you and the anti-American mindset you have that have turned me away from the Republican Party and to become a registered Independent.

Shame on you.

Perhaps you've just become too senile to perform the duties to which you were elected to perform.

Might I suggest an early retirement?
