Greg Hodur letter:
Criticism of Cheney hard to understandPublished Friday, March 03, 2006
I frankly don’t understand all the criticism Vice President Dick Cheney is receiving for shooting Harry Whittington. As far as I know, Texas is a “right to carry” jurisdiction with no bag limit or season on lawyers or other varmints, so what’s the problem?
To many in Texas, like North Dakota, “gun control” means hitting what you’re aiming at. Any other interpretation is a liberal Democratic plot to deny our God-given right to kill whatever we want whenever and wherever we want. Cheney was trying to do just that and mistook his attorney friend for a bird. So what?
Maybe he missed his target. But, on the positive side, shouldn’t Cheney get credit for, even if unintentionally, attempting to implement the administration’s solution for addressing the high cost of health care in this nation by culling lawyers who might pursue malpractice suits? No lawyers and no malpractice suits equal affordable health care for all. You have to be twisted to not appreciate that logic.
Lay off the vice president. He has a heart problem.
