2. I wish people would not caption anti-Bush protests as anti US protests.

4. If they're not U.S. protests, I would agree with you...
...BUT...

If you've been following the numerous threads on Bush's latest trip, there have been chants of "Death To Bush, Death To America" in these crowds.

In short, call it "guilt by association" or whatever you'd like, but these ARE anti US protests.

Don't take my word for it. Go to Yahoo News or Google News and do some searching through the recent articles. Do a search on DU...one of the recent threads you'll find is mine...and in those threads you will find links that absolutely support the fact that the anger in these countries is NOT exclusively "anti-Bush."

I don't believe in UNFAIRLY blaming people, but I am also not an apologist when the behavior exists.

6. Thanks. Then I hold a misconception about the protests.
Divleen from Delhi says the protest there were anti-Bush.

But then, that's her opinion.

7. Here's one example...
...and before you say "It's Fox News," not really...it's an Associated Press story posted on the Fox News Web Site:

More Than 10,000 Protest Bush's Arrival Across Pakistan

Friday, March 03, 2006

Associated Press

In Rawalpindi, some Pakistanis chanted "Killer go back" and "Death to America" during the 30-minute protest. One demonstrator had a bloody forehead, and police stuffed at least five others into a van, an Associated Press photographer on the scene said.

10. He had to visit Pakistan after that arms sale to India
and it's strictly BIDNESS, not diplomacy. He gets to sell twice as many war toys this way, and the Pakistani government can still think he's really their friend as he drains their treasury to fatten arms dealers.

WHEN are countries going to wake up and wise up? War is hideously expensive! The only thing arms are good for is providing a deterrent to PREVENT it. The military must always be RESTRAINED from feeling like these weapons are burning a hole in its metaphorical pocket and that they must be tested.

This whole trip was a scam and robbery of citizens of both nations.

Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 05:00 PM by alstephenson
-same thing in India. I know that some of you have said that the protests really ARE "Anti-American", but I don't remember Clinton being "greeted" in this manner.

16. See my reply (#7) above...
I'm just going by what I read in the media, and the photos I post...from Yahoo News...may not reflect 100% of what's going on. It's a picture that represents part of the "big" picture, if you will.

But I have read the term "Death To America" a LOT in the last week, in conjunction with this trip.

It's easy enough for anyone to do a DU search by author...me...and you will find threads in the last week, WITH links, pointing to Reuters / AP / etc. stories that say the Indian / Pakistani protesters have been calling for "Death To America."

I'm not making this crap up. Maybe Reuters and AP are, but I'm not.

These are Anti-American protests with Bush at the center. These are NOT "Anti-Bush" protests exclusively.

19. Perhaps, its a stretch on my part, but see it as an anti-Bush sentiment.

My experience is that majority of the people are intelligent enough to separate the two, that is, they distinguish between Bush's actions and the behavior of 300 million people.

The American press will refer it as anti-American, in order relieve Bush some of the responsibility.

Bush does the same thing here, referring to those who oppose his politics as being anti-American.
How convenient.
