Poll question: what *is* a single-issue voter?
"Single-issue voter" spoken scornfully, of course.

1. Somebody who doesn't care about pissing away $5 billion a month in Iraq,
the deaths of almost 3,000 American soldiers, giving up their civil liberties, being spied on by the government, selling ports to countries that harbor terrorists, outsourcing their jobs, giving tax breaks to the wealthy, ceding women's reproductive rights to the government, or allowing religious fanatics to dictate government policies, as long as gay people can't get married.

2. huh? i don't get it.
a single issue voter is anyone who votes based on their stand on a single issue . . . like abortion. the single issue anti-abortion voter will soon be extinct which is why the new issue du jour is gay marriage. it has been primed to take the place of abortion as the one issue that will get repugs to vote.

if this was a trick question . . . i missed the trick.

5. You Forced My Hand, My Friend
Your entry number one is brilliant, and doubtless the meaning most often in mind when people employ the term....

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

11. Doubtless You Do have A Point In Mind, Sir
But the salutation does not refer to anything but best wishes in all your endeavors.

8. My evolution
My issue used to be the environment. I weighted all candidates on their stand on the environment. Now that the environment is basically a dead issue, my single issue is whether they are a democrat or a republican.

You see, in the system I have to work with, it comes down to a single issue: Are they a puke or a democrat?

12. Thanks for your blessing
What else is there? A green candidate? Yeah, right. Like the greens are gonna take over. It doesn't suit me that I have but one choice, the dem, but that's all I got to work with.

Besides, I voted for the real pres. winner last election, but my vote was probably stolen. How 'bout you and your's? Do you really know, or do you just have faith?

14. The question is:
Do you have faith your vote was counted as cast?

15. A single-issue voter is a voter who would happily vote for Pol Pot as
long as he supported the particular voter's pet issue.

I was very dismayed when countless women in Oregon voted for sleazoid Republicanite Bob Packwood because of his support for abortion rights. They ignored his sleazy tax "reform" deals and the rumors about his lechery, as well as the fact that his Democratic opponent, too, was pro-choice, and they voted for him.

16. It's someone who would, for example, work against FDR because he wasn't
good enough on race, even though his wife was great on the issue of race, and even though the Republican was much worse, and if elected, would have destroyed the working class to such a degree that it would have really impoverished black and white America and pushed back the civil rights era 50 years into the future.

17. Other.
When the "single issue" is stacked upon a stack of "single issues."

TelCom Act
Patriot Act (twice)
NAFTA
IWR
Bankruptcy Bill
CAFTA
Confirmation of a bot
ETC...

I'm willing to give a couple of gimmes but when the most important issues of our time--I repeat-- the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES of OUR time are consistently voted in a manner against OUR best interest, well, I become a "single issue" voter. And that "single issue" IS- I/WE can do better than this.
