We liberals are constantly pointing out racism in Republican circles
Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 09:46 PM by Flabbergasted
The tides from decades past have somewhat turned over the last 5 years. In other words I no longer see things as openly racist. In fact liberals now are declared racist as much as Republicans are declared racist due to MSM.

We can look at things, such as affirmative action, and see blatant racism, or we can see a liberation of sorts from the entanglements of government regulation or as conservatives put it liberal action. Though I don't agree with this rationalization personally, society at large does agree with it, apparent due to many causes. In fact affirmative action will entirely disappear soon by my prediction.

So is the destruction of affirmative action racist? Does society waffle on this issue? Why has the Civil Rights movement given up on affirmative action. It is as though Jackie Robinson got up to bat as the first African American baseball player and gave up after his first game.

I want to see affirmative action go forward. I want to see a society in fifty years, that went from slavery to virtual equality!

1. Sandra Day O'Connor says affirmative action is necessary
for a few more decades and she is a republican.

I disagree with the assertion that democrats are racist. The only ones who think they are aren't democrats nor share our agenda of a better U.S. for All of us.

3. I don't think anyone thinks they are racist...but I think
that everyone has prejudices. If you think you don't, you must be JC incarnate.

2. The problem is the media and lack of leadership....

There are many of us who believe in affirmative action....I do believe women and minorities have advanced because of it.

Without Affirmative action, minority and women owned businesses will be dead in the water, many of those businesses are struggling under this administration...

You just have to look at Katrina to know that it must stay in place..
for those Gulf coast minority and women owned businesses they are being turned down for rebuilding funds by the Small Business Administration at alarming rates....

The neocons do not want equality for all Americans....they don't want to see the lower class and middle class move upward....

Clarence Thomas and Condi Rice are in the lead trying to dismantle Affirmative action....they are misguided.....

The civil rights movement is stagnant, the NAACP seems ineffective, we have no true leadership in the black community, our black churches have been effectively targeted by Carl Rove and split on the gay issue....

To answer your question Yes I believe it is racist to dismantle Affirmative Action...because there will be disenfranchisement of many American citizens...not just black, not just women but handicapped, and many more groups.
