If the GOP nominates Dan Quayle for the WH in 2008, we're sunk.
Unconfirmed scuttlebutt among Beltway insiders is that the RNC is seriously looking at some sort of Dan Quayle ticket in 2008, perhaps Quayle/Jeb Bush. I was afraid they would do this. It would be devastating. We'd be looking at another eight years of Republican rule in the WH.

Dan Quayle's got looks, charisma, and he seems like a pretty nice guy--someone you could DEFINITELY have a beer and a few laughs with. We Democrats don't have anyone who can match that today, really.

Plus, Quayle already HAS experience as VP, in the White House of one of the GOP's favorite Presidents, George HW Bush. The press might have made a few jokes about some misstatements he made, but GW has made a lot more, and overall Quayle doesn't have too much baggage, which is what the Republicans NEED more than anything right now.

It sounds to me that it's pretty much a lock: Dan Quayle for President in 2008. I just hope there are no lurking Freepers around here who will go back to their site and further fan the flames of this idea. I just want them to forget about Dan Quayle. He could well mean the end of the Democrat party.

I just really, really hope the Republicans don't nominate him.

Quayle is not a serious person much less candidate. Have you forgotten his deer staring at the headlights look? He may be more mature now, but that look is seared into the memories of most of the American public. And, by the way, he is not the kind of guy that Americans would want to share a beer with. He was far to square, too goody two shoes, too ordinary, too milque-toast, too effete, too dominated by an obviously smarter wife. No, no, no, no, no. The GOP is not going to run this guy. Not even their public relations machine could make him look presidential for more than a few weeks.

25. Deep Thoughts from J Danforth Quayle
"Republicans have been accused of abandoning the poor. It's the other way around. They never vote for us." -- Quayle,1988

"Bank failures are caused by depositors who don't deposit enough money to cover losses due to mismanagement." -- Quayle, 1988

"The best thing about rain forests is they never suffer from drought."-- Quayle

"You're a very strong woman... Though this would be a traumatic experience that you would never forget, I think that you would be very successful in life. " ---- Senator Dan Quayle, telling an 11-year-old girl why he would want her to have the baby if she were raped by her father.

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it." -- Quayle, 1988

"May our nation continue to be the beakon of hope to the world."-- The Quayle's 1989 Christmas card

I sure hope nobody over at freak republic gets wind of this one. A Quayle candidacy would really take the wind out of the sails of any prospective democratic nominee. You know, a lot of folks could see themselves playing a round of golf with that man. That could be hugh. I'm series. There is one downside though. His last name brings up unpleasant memories of the VP shooting that man in the face. I do have to agree. He's the perfect candidate.

68. Dan Quayle-the one candidate I'm sure Hillary can beat!
Heck, I think Michael Dukakis could beat him.

If the republicans really want to win, they will nominate McCain. If they are sure they can win because of cheating, they will nominate any dumbfuck.
