Big names back Duckworth, but where's ground support?
update from the ground in the illinois 6th.

There is a saying in politics: If you want a big crowd, book a small room. The classroom in the basement of a Roselle Park District building at 555 Byrn Mawr had space to spare.

During the course of more than an hour, no more than 20 adults showed up, not counting Duckworth staff and children, and I may be overestimating the size of the crowd.

2. yeah, who needs
grassroots, anyway. i will tell you, this is a red district. but the dems that are there (44% of voters in the last election) are plugged in, intelligent folks. and they are pissed.

5. I'm praying for Cegelis. May she pull of a victory
I was born in Chicago, IL and grew up near Kankakee, so I'm always interested in how Dems are doing in my state of birth.

Go Cegelis!!

7. I live in CT and am prepping to help Lamont defeat Lieberman
I'll be sending Cegelis some $$ after I get paid this week. I don't have a lot to spare right now, but want to make a contribution.

9. Primary is August 8, but Convention is May 20th
Ned needs 15% of Convention delegates or 2% of registered Dems in the state of CT to get on the primary ballot. The Lamont campaign is pursuing twin strategies of garnering Convention delegates and getting signatures on a petition. Petition gathering can't start til April 26 and it goes til end of May.

Convention delegate selection process starts at the end of this month, March 21-28. I'm hoping to get on my town's delegation, but there are pro-Lieberman supporters in my DTC who will try to thwart it. I hope we send enough delegates to help Ned get his 15%.

10. Funny thing! Or maybe not so funny!
In my limited travels through the 6th Distict today I saw around a dozen Scott signs near Carol Streams. No Cegelis or Duckworth. No dem signs in West Chicago, Warrenville, or Naperville. No Roskam signs either. A whole lot of other GOP signs everywhere. Only two weeks before the Primary.

11. well now, in my travels.
the only place i have seen scott signs is wheaton. couple in glen ellyn. i have seen many, many cegelis signs, including a fair number of last year's signs. have yet to see a tammy. i see roskam signs, but mostly of the "i have a governement job, i have to put these signs up. got one of everything" type situations. and then there are the giant oberweis signs. bigger is better, ya know.

12. Yeah, I've been closer to the border with the 14th.
There's a sickening amount of Hastert signs out to the West. Zamora and Laesch have announced their signs are available but I haven't seen much yet. The GOPers are pushing with the Hastert signs and he doesn't even have a Primary opponent. He does have money to burn though.
