Is this a new tactic of those who hate America?? What is next - putting impeach signs in public bathrooms, or something?? What is wrong with these people - they truly hate America!!!

15. That's a bad idea!
Do not write "IMPEACH BUSH" on money especially the numerous one dollar bill so that it will be widely seen. Do not place large placards on busy roadways that say "IMPEACH BUSH." Do not leave printed materials in busy locations that say "IMPEACH BUSH" with accompanying supporting material. Do not state in public places words like "HE SHOULD BE IMPEACHED FOR LYING NOW!" There are many things you should not do, so just do not do them. Please.

Just don't. If it's good enough for Wolf Blitzer, Candy Crowley, and Chris Matthews, it's good enough for you. One must only say "the president LIED to you" when it's Clinton.

65. BEST of all thing not to do: go to justicefornone.com and
ask them to prepare a Handbill with a list of all the grounds for impeachment as spelled out by the impeachment panel sponsored by Harpers and Conyers. They make great Handbills and you print them off and not leave them all over the place.

8. I have been doing to all of my bills from $20 - $1
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 09:42 AM by stop the bleeding
If it is written in the margin, the white edge of the bill then that is ok, but if it is written in big letters over the face of the bill that is not ok.

Mine have been circulating in FL. for about 2 months now.

on edit here is a link:

Many of the writers cited the actual federal statute, which is vague, to say the least.

The pertinent passage: "Whoever mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any -- bill -- with intent to render such bill unfit to be reissued, shall be fined -- or imprisoned ..."

Instead of struggling with nuances and interpretations, I decided to go straight to the folks responsible for enforcing the law.

I started out at the U.S. Bureau of Engraving in Washington, D.C. Spokeswoman Claudia Dickens said writing on currency is NOT illegal, as long as it doesn't "render the bill unfit (for circulation)."

However, Dickens recommended that if I wanted a definitive answer, I should talk to somebody at the U.S. Secret Service.

~snip~

Getting down to specifics, he said the Secret Service was well aware of the wheresgeorge.com phenomenon. The agency's official position is that writing the Web site's name on a bill was, indeed, a violation of the law.

He said the folks who run the Web site had been informed of that.

Following Mackin's suggestion to call Detroit, I reached a Secret Service agent who said the statute is never enforced. He insisted on anonymity.

When I asked to speak to somebody less secretive, I got agent Joe Viviano, who put his own spin on the issue:

"If Grandma and Grandpa write 'Happy Birthday, Tommy' in the margin of a $50 bill with an ink pen, nobody's going to go after them," Viviano said. "But if they use a black magic marker and write in big letters across the face of the bill, that's another story."

Viviano said he interprets the statute to mean that, technically, writing anything anywhere on a bill is a violation of federal law.

56. Me, too. For several months
At the office, we did a Super Bowl pool and I bought three squares. Went to lunch with one of the winners the following week and when she went to pay, she stated, "Look! Someone wrote IMPEACH BUSH" here." "Hmm", I commented, "Wonder who that was?" "You just can't help yourself, can you, Cindy?" she replied with a smile and saved one of the bills.

Now, she's a moderate Repuke, as her her hubby, who I also work with. Every time her hubby buys stock he checks with me - Wal-Mart? BAD!. Bought it anyway. GE - are they okay? BAD! Major defense contractor. Bought it anyway.

I may not be changing their actions, but at least they think about them now. I try and hope the little things count, someday . . . somehow.

11. First writing on money is a crime, but then so is everything bu$h does
But the stickers are not as good an idea, it is defacing property.
If you want to make an impact in that way, make posters or post-it note signs and place them on bulletin boards everywhere you go.
Tape them to mirrors in restrooms and on doors into and out of public places.
They will get removed but for every sign you post, several people will see it before it is removed.
I use post-it notes on gas pumps reminding the next person who is to blame for our high gas prices.

21. Yet another case..
.... where bullshit unenforced laws are used as a threat to stifle anything those in power want to stifle.

Banks write on bills ALL THE TIME. I SEE THEM DO IT. Any store who takes $100 almost invariably uses the "counterfeit pen" to check the bill.

Point of fact - proving that a particular person scrawled something on a bill would be next to impossible IMHO.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Its only illegal if your intent is to make the bill unfit to be reissued. Simply writing on or stamping a bill does not do this.

66. I figured it was a crime to deface bills, but who the hell could prove who
did it!!!

Many years ago I worked in a bank and saw plenty of bills with writing on it.

They don't bother going after people because they just can't prove it. Now if you start writing it on a bunch of bills, they could certainly trace it back to you.

And knowing the kind of gestapo tactics Bushco is using, I have no doubt they would proscecute people.

I love the idea of it, but think it's risky......sorry folkes......not a good idea!!

could do the same thing with impeach bush

it was fun doing this & a lot of folks came up to ask for them.

64. This one looks good
http://solarcooking.org/wheatpaste.htm

Wheat paste

Prepare 1 cup (2.4 dl) of very hot water. Make a thin mixture of 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of white flour and cold water (just enough to wet all the flour and make it liquid enough to pour). Pour the cold mixture slowly into the hot water while stirring constantly. Bring to a boil. When it thickens, allow to cool. Smear on like any other glue. For slightly better strength, add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of sugar after the glue is thickened. After using a portion, reheat the remaining in a covered jar or container to sterilize it for storage or keep refrigerated. If wheat flour is not available, other flours will work.

Check local laws

43. Maybe it was one of mine...
...if I were really the kind of person that would have had a rubber stamp made up because I got tired of writing it out by hand.

Of course, writing on money is frowned up by the Dept. of Treasury...so I couldn't be me.

72. Not me, either. I never borrowed a friend's little red stamp...
...and stamped all the bills in my wallet. Uh-uh. To quote John Dean's immortal words to Richard Nixon, "That would be wrong."

But I see tally-marks on bills all the time, presumably from store clerks and bank tellers.

48. I've been doing that for weeks....
Mostly "Impeach Bush," "Bush is a war criminal," and "U.S. out of Iraq!"

Everyone should do it. Write it in the margin where it's easy to read. Every few days, take a couple of minutes to write it on every bill you have-- during the next few days you'll exchange them for clean ones and your message will begin circulating around the country.

and written on it was "Geo. Bush quit booze, quite coke, found God and started wars founded on lies." I was pleasantly surprised and saved it but may have to put it back into circulation.

63. I've been writing "Bush Lies" on dollars, walls, public restrooms,
etc. for about a year now. Hmm, I think it's time to re-visit those places with a fresh Sharpie and add "Impeach Bush"

69. It is very impolite to write
"War criminal lives here" or "home of war criminal" on the white house side of a 20 dollar bill. Please do not do it. On the face side it is not nice to write "genocidal" or "Killer of Native Peoples" next to Andrew Jackson's face.

73. Go high tech folks.
Use your printer. You can pick out the font type, whether you want it in bold or not, even choose a pretty color, like bright red.
(Just so no one misses it.)

Now I've only heard about this. I've never tried it out myself.

76. Do NOT write IMPEACH Bush on those little ad inserts that fall out of Mags
and put them back into other mags. I mean a person would have to gather them up off the floor, take them home, write them up (wiping for prints - of course - if it were TV anyway) and re-insert casually the next time you browsed mags. It would be way too much work.

82. it's also legal to protest, but try protesting a Bush appearance
My point is that the Bush administration does what it wants, and it tramples on the legal to treat citizens like criminals all the time.

In today's world, the restraint that has been practiced by government in the past may not be a good indicator of how it will act in the future.

Writing ON currency appears not to be illegal, but if anyone publicly advocates writing IMPEACH BUSH on currency, at some point they will probably get a visit from a Bush admin goon of some kind.
