Requesting legal info about Abortion Laws
Mississippi has outlawed abortion (except for rape, incest). The penalty for performing an abortion is up to $5,000 fine and "up to" one year in prison. The basis for banning abortion is it constitutes murder. Could the sentence for abortion be brought up at the sentencing phase of a convicted murderers trial in Mississippi as an argument against the murderers potential sentence? He commits murder and gets life. A doctor performs "murder" and gets one year. Possible?

1. I'm not a lawyer, but I doubt it
Sentences aren't consistent. The law already recognizes different "types" of murder and gives different penalties for them. People who plea get different sentences than people who don't. "Not being an abortionist" isn't a protected class, so there isn't any basis for a discrimination suit.

2. But does not the sentence structure for abortion
dimish the christian argument that they value life? Per their "beliefs" a doctor would "murder" a fetus than be back on the streets in a few months. I cannot believe they have not marched in the streets over this. Unless, of course, they really don't give a fuck.

3. As long as they get to control what a woman does with
her body, they don't give a fuck.

4. well, of course the truth is they don't really give a fuck
the laws prohibiting abortion aren't in place to protect a fetus. they are in place to punish people (specifically, women) for having sex. Otherwise, there wouldn't be exceptions for rape or incest (once how the fetus came to be enters the equation, the argument about protecting its life and rights is necessarily moot.)

5. The MS state legislature
debated whether rape and incest should be exempted. One fine member of the state house of representatives who oppposed exempting rape and incest said "God does not make mistakes."

7. And why isn't the woman an accomplice?
She gave the dr. money to do the job. So what is their rationale for the difference between a woman getting an abortion and a woman hiring a "hit man" to murder somebody?
