The public is "pissed" and we don't want this absence of leadership again.

So it's time to ask away and to be sure you're only supporting candidates who are willing to debate in primaries and general elections.

1. What is your policy on immigration? Do you have one?

3. Yes, Common sense. Start with avoiding discrimination.

Recognizing our population is not growing due to reduced birth rates and is growing older, which means we have to offer a reason for new people to arrive here. The fastest growing segment is Latinos beyond the immigration issue. Frankly, there are numerous issues more important than this one. It's a political smoke screen to take attention away from the billions of dollars of our taxes given to large corporations or not paid by them.

Those who have entered the country illegally have broken our laws. Those who have employed them have broken our laws. Fine employers that don't ask for identification, $100 per incident per day. The cost to identify, locate and deport would be hundreds of billions and makes no economic sense. Each who are working and abiding by our laws may apply for citizenship, so as not to be exploited. The costs would be born by the applicants. They may should wait a specific period prior to being eligible for our services, if new in country.

In future, as part of improved domestic security, we need a more responsible and border security and more efficient working visa policy should more immigrants be needed.

7. Medical care, education, housing?

Do you think children of illegal immigrants should suffer the consequences of the decisions of their parents? If giving them a school lunch will help them be strong enough to avoid illness, wouldn't that be smarter than waiting until they need to visit the emergency room? Or do you think they should not receive health care services if they haven't been here long enough. What about the children who grew up in the US, isn't it smarter to educate them regardless of their status.

And what about employers who are presented with false identification. Or the ones who repeatedly violate the law. What about the ones who lie about the visa requirements. How many times can an employer make an these mistakes before they lose their license or corporate status. What if losing their corporate status would put an important government job in jeopardy, or throw tens of thousands of people out of work.

Should we build a fence, or not. Is it racist to only build a fence at the Mexican border. What about watering spots, and are we criminally negligent if we don't allow water and people die, since we can obviously foresee that people are in the desert. Should police officers be required to turn over illegals, or would that increase crime when illegals become afraid to report it. Should hospitals and schools be required to report illegals.

Finally, how much money should we allocate for border patrol and general immigration costs, business investigations, and helping illegals become productive citizens, once they're here.

9. Children are not chattel. Health and education are investments

Building a fense when we told Eastern Europe to tear it down makes us look stupid. The age of sovereignty is quickly being replaced with aneed to be global. I'd rather it not be decided by corporation but by the public. I'd rather we not be conned into believing the costs of a strong domestic security can't be realized by making corporations responsible in paying their fair share.

First of all, I love my state, and those that represent me. So, with that in mind...why don't we opt out of the federal apparatus....especially since the Constitution, and the rule of law, only apply to some.....and the process by which our votes are counted is a total sham.....

Accessibility occurs when candidates ask for and receive valuable input. It helps when the actively support the candidate against the $'s most will bring to a campaign or have access to, which prohibits true representation.

13. National Healthcare for every man, woman and child in the U.S.

Where do you stand on that and what will you do to make it a reality?

14. If I had the ability, I'd have it right now.

First, let's have some sharing time. I am a business owner and my health coverage for a family is $13,000 annually with no dental coverage.

If you really examine existing health coverage local, county and state employees, federal, military and retirees are already being paid out of our taxes. So is medicaid and medicare. This amounts to nearly half of all medical expenditures. The next area to be examined is profit margins for insurers and pharmaceutical companies. If the federal government was a one source provider requiring competitive bidding, the costs for healthcare would drop by a good 10% to 15% if not more because of economies of scale because Uncle Sam is not supposed to run on a profit or lose money. Most studies show that poor administration and absence of technology results in poor health management, which is estimated to increase costs by 30%.

So this leaves a few items you and I have little control on. (1) Americans need to live healthier lives; whether its smoking or packing extra pounds. This translates into higher health costs. (2) Americans need to have routine check ups like putting oil in a car. If we don't we pay much, much more for unaddressed medical problems. (3) The largest portion of medical costs comes during the last six weeks of life -- by some estimates 60% of all lifetime costs because of the critical care, hospitalization and surgeries.

The point I am making is if Japan, which has a gold standard national healthcare system with nominal $25 per visit co-pays can do it, we can.

The real "soft" savings is a healthier population with less missed days and more health awareness. Does this mean no increase in income taxes? I'm thinking we'll all have to pay, but then corporations can pay more as they won't have this cost on their operating expenses and millionaires being great patriots won't mind picking up a bit more of their fair share.

Keep in mind I won't be afforded to respond to this question with this degree of time and few people might fully comprehend the implications.

24. Bush's Crazy Military Retirement Plan

Carl,
Are you aware of the Bush administration's plan to end the 20 year retirement for the military? I think that issue could be used against the republicans. Bush expects people to serve 20 years in the military and then not collect a pension until age 60. What are your thoughts on this?
